Dead by Daylight fans, ready your flashlights—and your nerves. One of horror gaming’s most infamous franchises is about to haunt The Fog. The next killer chapter, Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF), launches June 2025, with the notorious Springtrap stepping in as the new killer and the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria as the battleground. The much-anticipated crossover was confirmed during Behaviour Interactive’s 9th anniversary livestream, sending waves of excitement—and a healthy dose of jump scares—through the community.
For those eager to get a taste of terror before the official launch, Behaviour Interactive is opening the Public Test Build (PTB) on Steam on May 13, 2025, at 9am PDT. The PTB—Dead by Daylight’s early access test server—lets players try out new content, including Springtrap’s killer powers, perks, and the new map, while providing feedback to shape the final experience. To join, simply opt into the “public-test” beta branch from your Dead by Daylight properties in your Steam library.
Chapter 36 plunges survivors and killers into the haunted, maze-like corridors of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. This fan-favorite setting is stuffed with FNAF easter eggs, movie nods, and—naturally—plenty of ways to be caught off-guard. While many previous chapters have introduced new survivors alongside killers, this time the spotlight stays firmly on Springtrap and the terrifying map.
Springtrap arrives with a brand new killer power and three unique perks, though Behaviour is keeping the specifics tightly under wraps for now. According to game designer Jason Guzzo, the team focused on authenticity: “We tried our best to be authentic in terms of taking the core experience of FNAF games and DBD and marry those things.” Players can expect not just animatronic terror, but also survivor gameplay that channels FNAF’s signature tension and jump scares.
Guzzo hints, “It was such a vital part of the experience being that ‘survivor’ that we wanted to…give fans what they expect, not just playing as [Springtrap], but against him.” In short, both FNAF and Dead by Daylight fans have plenty to look forward to—whether you’re stalking as Springtrap or desperately trying to outwit him in the pizzeria’s haunted halls.
