Last night was another biggen’ for movie, TV and gaming news. Join us this May 5th as we take a look at the biggest and best stories to break.
Four Game of Thrones Spin-Offs In the Works
For a while now, we’ve heard whispers, but yesterday HBO confirmed the rumours that Game of Thrones will be getting a spin-off show. What’s more, they revealed that four titles are currently in early stages of development.
Four writers have been tasked with creating scripts for four separate Game of Thrones spin-off series, meaning HBO are looking to explore a great deal more of Westeros than we’ve previously seen.
While details are thin, four series could mean we see any number of things, from the original war between White Walkers and Men to tales beyond the era we are currently part of. What has been confirmed though, is that showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff, will take the reigns of whatever new series make it to air — it is unlikely that we will see all four!
Exciting news for any Game of Thrones fan then. At least we know, when the final episode airs, it won’t be the last time we see the brutal shores of Westeros.
Gears of War Movie Bags Writer
There have been rumblings of a Gears of War movie since the second game was released back in ‘08. However, things went pretty quiet for a number of years, until it was recently announced that Universal intended to revive the project and bring the muscle-bound human tanks to the big screen.
This is another project still in its very early stages, and with talk in previous years, can we really expect to ever see this movie? Well, apparently so, because Universal have stepped up their game this time around by onboarding Avatar sequel writer, Shane Salerno.
Early reports suggest that Salerno’s script will deviate from the current series of events in Gears of War 4, and any events prior, moving to a completely different part of the Gears of War Universe.
What that means for the movie we don’t know. We assume the Locust will be present at least, hopefully, some of the original gang too, but who knows? Maybe this will just be a classic rom-com set on Sera, with no relation to the franchise at all.
Just imagine it now. One man united with his ultimate love: Carmine + Headshot 4ever.
Classic Zombies Map Return to Black Ops 3
On May 16th, Treyarch will release a new Blacks Ops 3 DLC pack called Zombie Chronicles for PS4 owners. The map pack will contain eight classic zombies maps spanning World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops 2.
The map pack will also be available on Xbox One, although no date is confirmed as of yet. The maps reborn in newly remastered glory are:
Nacht der Untoten (World at War)
Kino der Toten (World at War)
Verruckt (World at War)
Shi no Numa (World at War)
Shangri-la (Black Ops)
Moon (Black Ops)
Ascension (Black Ops)
Origins (Black Ops II)
As a long-time fan of the Zombies game mode, this has me pretty excited. While I never got Black Ops 3, I may have to just for these maps. Although, I must admit I’m sad not to see Call of the Dead in there.
