It’s something every devoted fan dreams of when their favourite show finally comes to an end. After many tears, countless helpings of chocolate ice-cream and a well-deserved nap, a question suddenly comes to light.
“Will there ever be a reunion…?”
The Gilmore Girls Rebooted
Well, for Gilmore Girls fans, that dream is about to come true. A Netflix exclusive, four-part TV Series, revisiting the one and only Stars Hollow. We are reunited with our favourite quick-witted mother and daughter and their dearest friends and family. Sixteen years after the show first aired, the mini-series is set a decade after the Season 7 finale [A quick reminder here about what happened in the season finale]. I think we’ll be pleased to find that not a whole lot has changed around this small town.
So without further ado, here are five reasons to get excited about the upcoming glimpse back into the lives of Rory and Lorelai Gilmore.
Nostalgic Settings
From the early release of pictures on set, it’s plain to see that ‘A Year in the Life’ will feature much of the original scenery. The Netflix crew have been working hard to rebuild everything from the bare bones of Stars Hollow (what can you expect after ten years?) on the set of Warner Bros. It was a tough but necessary challenge to reconstruct the sets as close to the originals for the Gilmore’s fanbase.
We can look forward to revisiting the Gilmore Girls beloved home, Luke’s legendary diner, Emily Gilmore’s home in Hartford, Doose’s Market, the Dragonfly Inn and Rory’s prestigious high school alongside many other well-known landmarks.

Epic Cast Reappearances
From the sneak peek trailer it was revealed which familiar faces would be returning to the series. We’ll get to see what has become of many of the characters intertwined within Rory and Lorelai Gilmore’s lives over the seasons. Here are some of our favourites.
High Strung Paris Geller will return as Rory’s unlikely best friend. Is she as successful as she always strived to be?
The musical rebel Lane Kim and her formidable mother Mrs. Kim will also make an appearance.
We shall see Lorelai’s partner in crime Sookie St. James and the miserable French desk clerk Michel Gerard still close at her side.
Rory’s overbearing Grandmother Emily Gilmore will also be returning, sadly however as a widow. Edward Herrmann, who played Richard Gilmore regrettably passed away in 2014 and the producers only thought it fitting to perform a tribute to the actor.
The Boys are Back in Town
The Gilmore Girl’s always had a habit of complicating their love lives. It seems that ten years later things may not have settled down for either of them. Rory’s first love Dean Forester is set to reappear over the series and tensions are sure to rise with Logan Huntzberger & Jess Mariano also making a comeback. In the finale, Logan proposed to Rory, a proposal she later turned down to prioritise her career. Which love interest are you rooting for?
Lorelai has also had her share of complex relationships, but from this early reveal, things seem to have finally settled down with Luke! Could this be the Ross and Rachel ending we always hoped for?
Lane and her Twins
When we left Stars Hollow, Lane had given birth to two twin boys. Her boyfriend Zack was everything Mrs. Kim didn’t want for her daughter and the lifestyle Lane chose to lead was far from the good Christian girl she had pretended to be throughout her teenage life. She was always held back by her Mother’s expectations on her, in her faith, education and hobbies. What will have become of this quirky, secretive, aspiring drummer?
Rory’s Political Stance
As we know, Rory graduated from Yale in Season 7 ready to head out into the world and conquer the journalistic scene. We left her just as she landed a job following Barack Obama’s election campaign, an incredible opportunity. However, ten years later, a great shift in the presidential candidacy is sure to make an impact. How will the news that Donald Trump won the election phase Rory Gilmore, a young girl who held Hillary Clinton as her female idol in politics? In Season 2 Rory says “She’s so smart and tough and nobody thought she could win New York but she did and she’s doing amazing, and have you heard her speak?… She’s a great speaker, strong and persuasive with a wonderful presence, and even those suits of hers are getting better”. More specifically, when Lorelai is looking into the ownership of the property for the Dragonfly Inn, Sookie pointedly says “Tell me it’s not that bastard Donald Trump”.
Over the years, we’ve watched Rory and Lorelai express strong opinions on everything from coffee to relationships, and we speculate there won’t be any exception when it comes to commenting on America’s current political situation.
So grab your pop tarts-and-apple appetisers, sit back and get ready to dive back into the Gilmore Girls universe we know and love. Rants 2.5x normal talking speed, wacky metaphors, town meetings and textbook romance, is it just me or can you smell the snow?
If you can’t wait till November 25th, make sure you check out the Behind the Scenes glimpse at the reunion below! We are following every rumour with great anticipation.
