After months of leaks and leaks, AMD has lifted the veil on the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex. This midrange contender brings the latest RDNA 4 feature set to gamers who want solid 1440p performance without breaking the bank. Although AMD hasn’t yet confirmed pricing or an exact release date, the spec reveal has already set the rumor mill ablaze—especially in comparison to Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 5060 Ti.
The RX 9060 XT packs 32 compute units (2,048 stream processors) and hits a 3.13GHz boost clock, making it well suited for high-refresh 1440p play. It doubles down on ray tracing with 32 RT cores and adds 64 AI cores to accelerate AMD’s new FSR 4 upscaling. Buyers can choose between 8GB or 16GB of GDDR6, with the larger frame buffer aimed at those who want extra future-proofing as game textures grow more demanding.
Under typical loads, board power sits between 150W and 182W, all drawn through a single 8-pin connector. That makes the RX 9060 XT an easy retrofit into most midrange builds. AMD also retains a full x16 PCIe 5.0 interface, ensuring no bandwidth bottleneck on older PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 motherboards—an advantage over some competitors that throttle to x8 lanes.
The 9060 XT delivers 821 TOPS of AI performance with FP8 dataset support and structured sparsity, outpacing the 759 TOPS of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti. While Nvidia still leads in frame generation, AMD’s FSR 4 is closing the gap on DLSS. The true test will come once independent benchmarks hit, but early data points to strong ray tracing capable of realistic lighting at affordable price points.
At launch, board partners will roll out custom cooler designs, RGB accents, and factory overclocks. Installation is simple: one PCIe 5.0 slot and the lone 8-pin cable. Those building compact or small-form-factor rigs will appreciate the modest power requirements and streamlined cabling.
Current rumors place the RX 9060 XT launch in June 2025, following a potential May announcement. Prices are expected around $399 for 16GB and $329 for 8GB, but final tags will need to undercut Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti to keep competition fierce.
