Ananta Hits January 2027 With Two Cities and No Character Gacha

NetEase and Naked Rain will launch free-to-play urban open-world RPG Ananta worldwide on January 15, 2027 for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android.

January 15, 2027 is the date to circle, but the more useful launch detail is scale: Ananta is built around two major urban hubs, Tokyo-inspired Nova City and Chongxiao’s Lingyun City, rather than a single starter map. The new Chongxiao trailer frames the second city as a core part of the game’s launch identity, with dense streets, high-rise traversal, and martial-arts action that can turn everyday surroundings into improvised weapons.

Formerly called Project Mugen, Ananta is NetEase Games and Naked Rain’s free-to-play open-world RPG. Players join the A.C.D. as the Captain, an elite Agent investigating supernatural incidents across the two cities while rebuilding a team of agents. Missions can keep control on one character for longer stretches, but exploration and puzzles support switching among characters. The roster includes martial-artist maid-café manager Aileen, yo-yo-wielding student Alan, graffiti artist Bansy, and hacker Seymour.

The game’s progression pitch combines city exploration with social influence: the Captain builds a follower list as an influencer, though the exact impact of that system on levels, rewards, and missions has not been detailed. Travel is deliberately broad, spanning cars, motorcycles, helicopters, yachts, subways, hang gliders, and grappling-hook-style swinging. That makes Chongxiao more than a trailer backdrop; it should add another substantial area for movement, activities, and story progression at launch.

Pre-registration is open through the official site and mobile storefronts, with more than 17 million sign-ups across 110 countries and regions. That figure is engagement, not sales: Ananta has no entry price, and its characters are earned through gameplay rather than gacha pulls. Monetized cosmetics include clothing, vehicles, and homes, while the full purchasing model has not been laid out.

PC players can choose Steam or the official client; PS5, iOS, and Android are also confirmed, while Xbox is not. Cross-progression, PC requirements, preload timing, and server plans remain unannounced. Pre-register on the platform most likely to be your day-one home, but wait for account-linking details before assuming progress will transfer between PC, console, and mobile.
