Required Loadout and Core Systems

Legendary ship encounters require Elite-tier Hull Armor to survive unbraced broadsides and mortar salvos. Offensively, equip Heavy or Heated Round Shot at minimum; Resynced’s balancing emphasizes Heated and Burning Shot for sustained damage-over-time output. Upgraded Chain Shot is mandatory for controlling high-mobility targets, and Elite-tier Mortar Barrels are necessary to exploit turning and ram recovery windows with enlarged blast radius and damage.

Brace must be treated as a cooldown-managed resource. Unbraced hits from legendary broadsides will force early repair cycles or sink the Jackdaw outright.

El Impoluto

El Impoluto relies on bow rams and rapid turns. The correct response is to force close-quarters turning fights rather than stern chases.

• Positioning: Stay off its bow quarters at mid-to-close range. Force the AI to commit to a turn instead of a ram.
• Chain Shot: Fire upgraded Chain Shot immediately after a ram pass or during the initial turn commit. Dropping its speed prevents it from re-positioning for a second ram.
• Mortar Window: Launch mortars during its turn arcs and ram recovery frames. Elite barrels punish these locked animations with significant hull damage.
• Broadside Sequence: Unload Heated/Burning Round Shot into the hull during forced turns. Do not fire while it is accelerating into a bow charge; the hit registration favors its ram damage over your broadside.
• Brace: Use brace only when a ram impact is unavoidable. Otherwise, prioritize evasive turning.

HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign

This is a two-ship engagement. Fearless deploys fire-based offenses; Royal Sovereign fields heavier conventional broadsides. Splitting damage between them is the primary failure state.

• Priority Target: Eliminate one ship before the other can execute a crossfire. HMS Fearless is generally the softer target, but either is viable if you can isolate it.
• Positioning: Keep both targets on a single flank whenever possible. Use the wreckage or sinking hull of the first target as temporary line-of-sight cover against the second.
• Chain Shot: Apply to the secondary ship while you focus-fire the primary. Slowing the non-target prevents flanking broadsides.
• Mortars: Only use if both ships overlap in a cluster. Otherwise, concentrate broadside fire on the selected target.
• Brace Timing: Alternate braces between their broadside cycles. Royal Sovereign’s full salvo strips substantial armor if taken unbraced.

La Dama Negra

La Dama Negra excels in hit-and-run broadside passes and long-range mortar kiting. The strategy is to collapse its operational range and lock it into close-quarters turning.

• Positioning: Close distance immediately. Do not allow a stern chase; its mortar accuracy and broadside escape windows improve with range.
• Chain Shot: Critical. Fire upgraded Chain Shot at the start of every broadside run to kill its momentum. A slowed Dama Negra cannot complete its pass and is forced into a vulnerable turn.
• Mortar Window: Use during stalled turns or when it attempts to break away behind you.
• Broadside Sequence: Heated/Burning Round Shot for sustained pressure while it is trapped in close quarters. The damage-over-time compounds while the ship is trying to re-accelerate.
• Warning: If it opens distance, re-apply Chain Shot and close the gap before it can mortar.

HMS Prince

HMS Prince favors extreme-range mortar bombardment and heavy shot at mid-range. Its close-range behavior is less aggressive, creating an exploitable weakness.

• Positioning: Close to inside its mortar minimum arc and stay there. HMS Prince cannot effectively use mortars at point-blank range.
• Brace: Reserve brace for its panic broadside when you first close, not for mortar fire that you have already negated by proximity.
• Chain Shot: Useful if it attempts to open distance to re-establish mortar arcs, but less critical than against Impoluto or La Dama Negra.
• Broadside Sequence: Heated shot at close range. Punish its reload cycles without letting it build separation.
• Mortar Use: Low priority if you maintain proximity. Save mortar ammunition for disengagement or repair phases.

Respawned Engagement Adjustments

Legendary ships respawn with tighter maneuver cooldowns and elevated aggression. The tactical skeleton remains the same, but execution margins tighten.

• Chain Shot Priority: Increased for El Impoluto and La Dama Negra. Movement control is the difference between a clean kill and taking an unbraced ram or broadside.
• Mortar Discipline: Windows shrink in respawned states. Fire only during committed turns or confirmed ram recovery. Predictive mortar fire wastes ammunition and reload cycles.
• Broadside Discipline: Do not trade fire at equal angles. Force the enemy to turn into your broadside while you remain angled away from theirs.
• Repair Management: Enter the fight with maximum repairs. Respawned encounters last longer due to higher effective health and aggression, stretching supply limits.
