Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an upcoming game in the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise and is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of 2023. We’ve watched the trailer, read all the latest news and gathered all the Assassin’s Creed information released thus far.

In this blog post, we’ll be discussing everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This includes the release date, gameplay, story, availability on different platforms, price, pre-order bonuses, and trailer. If you’re interested in learning more about this upcoming game, read on!

What is Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next edition in the Assassin’s Creed series, following the 2020 colossus, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Mirage brings a fresh change as it departs from the open world RPG of the most recent generation of Assassin’s Creeds.

The game goes back to the basics and employs the original stealth and assassination style of its very first editions. Mirage is set in Baghdad and follows the evolution of Basim, one of the main characters to feature in the franchise.

When is the release date?

In 2022, Ubisoft Bordeaux confirmed the development of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was later followed by the world premiere trailer released in September 2022. The trailer announced that the game’s release date would be in 2023.

However, despite a popular pre-order listing indicating a release date of June 30, 2023, there has been no official announcement from the developers, leaving fans to speculate.

What do we know about the gameplay?

So far as we know, the game takes considerable leaps backwards from its expansive RPG gameplay, as seen in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is presumed to follow a smaller scope and pay homage to its roots, leaning heavily in favor of more parkour, stealth and assassinations.

Ubisoft hinted in a statement that Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay will contain a little bit of everything. Hunting enemies across a densely populated city of Baghdad will certainly present more than one opportunity to scale the walls using the skills of a silent assassin.

While Baghdad may offer various districts to discover, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will confine itself to one specific city rather than exploring diverse towns and worlds. This means that the game will likely involve a considerable amount of stalking and hiding in the shadows.

What do we know about the story?

Assassin’s Creed Mirage timeline is set during the pinnacle of the city’s prosperity in the Golden Age of Islam. Specifically, the story takes place in the year 861 A.D, which is roughly 20 years prior to the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The main protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a young Basim Ibn Ishaq, a familiar figure from the Valhalla storyline.

Basim starts out as nothing more than a clever street thief but eventually becomes the franchise’s most skilled and lethal assassin. Understanding Basim’s backstory is crucial to comprehending the true meaning and plot of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Born in the Samarra region, Basim was forced to grow up on the streets of Baghdad after losing his mother at a young age. During this time, he developed a deep admiration for the “Hidden Ones”. His journey to becoming an assassin begins when he takes the creed and joins their ranks. Under the guidance of master assassin Roshan, Basim must learn to honor the creed, hone his stalking abilities, and become a true Hidden One.

What platforms will it be released on?

Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will be a cross-generational release, available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Additionally, PC gamers can look forward to accessing the new title through the Epic Games and Ubisoft Stores.

Without further adieu, the topic that is bound to pique everyone’s interest is the pre-order price. As the game is more compact than its predecessors, the standard version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be priced at a reasonable $49.99 USD.

The Assassin’s Creed Mirage deluxe edition comes with added features such as the Prince of Persia outfit. Gamers will have to fork out $10 USD more for this edition.

Die-hard fans who are seeking the ultimate experience can opt for the Assassin’s Creed Mirage Collector’s Case. This comprehensive set includes all available items and is priced at $149.99 USD.

Are there any pre-order bonuses?

One of the advantages of pre-ordering the game is that you will be the first to explore the hidden corners of Baghdad. Pre-ordering any of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage editions grants exclusive access to Ali Baba and “The Forty Thieves” quest.

Watch the trailer

The CGI trailer provided may have narrated the story of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but offered no actual footage of the gameplay. Unfortunately, this could indicate that Epic Games and Ubisoft Bordeaux still have some kinks that need to be ironed out in this latest installment.

Nevertheless, the release trailer still provided some hints and a glimpse into the storyline of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Basim is seen jumping over walls, using smoke bombs, and hiding in plain sight. Any Assassin’s Creed expert would be able to easily decipher some useful insight from the trailer.

Summary

The Assassin’s Creed franchise began in 2007 and was modeled around open world stealth-gameplay, parkour and silent assassinations. In 2017, Ubisoft decided to change the franchise’s momentous style of play to an open world RPG style, with the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Two editions later, after Odyssey and Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is believed to be a resurrection of the original stealth-game play. As far as the trailer release indicates, the latest Assassin’s Creed takes us back in time to explore Basim Ibn Ishaqs’ journey.

Ubisoft is yet to release any official gameplay footage, but as far as we know, Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows a shorter narrative and pays homage to a more original closed style of gameplay.

The release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to pay the way for three more editions; Codename Red, Codename Hexe, and Codename Jade. With all that said and done, the game is set to explore the hidden shadows in 2023 and strike the gaming world with its blade of expectations.
