I’m into Mirage’s tighter, back-to-stealth design, so more Basim stories are welcome. But “free” often comes with caveats, and the timing and details raise some fair questions for players.
The essentials: it’s a free DLC chapter focused on Basim, set in AlUla, with new missions and updates that also touch the base game. No price is great — Mirage already felt like a palate cleanser after the bloat of Odyssey and Valhalla, and injecting fresh content without a paywall is a smart way to bring people back to Baghdad. The catch is the timeline. “2025” is a wide net, which usually means the team is still scoping the content or aligning around other Assassin’s Creed beats. In other words: don’t expect a massive, Revelations-sized detour. Think story arc plus a handful of mission chains.
AlUla isn’t just a picturesque destination; it’s a playground for Mirage’s design philosophy. Mirage fans have asked for smarter guard perception (less instant psychic aggro, more readable cones), more reliable parkour magnetism on diagonals, and better tool balance. If AlUla respects that scope, this could be the perfect excuse to revisit Baghdad, retool your loadout, and remind yourself why a compact Assassin’s Creed still hits in 2025.
