Beast of Reincarnation’s Combat Shines, but PC and PS5 Issues Need a Fix

Beast of Reincarnation delivers satisfying parry-led action, but crashes, traversal stutter, and control friction make it a cautious launch-week buy on PC and PS5.

The deciding factor is not whether Beast of Reincarnation can hit a high frame rate in a quiet opening area; it is whether it remains stable through cutscenes, zone transitions, effects-heavy fights, and fast menu use. Those pressure points are where Game Freak’s action RPG has shown its most damaging technical flaws.

The underlying game has a clear appeal. Its parry-first combat rewards precision, while Emma’s plant-infused abilities and mobility add useful movement options around tense encounters. That makes stutter especially disruptive: a hitch during traversal, a delayed camera response, or an input that feels slow can directly compromise the timing the combat asks of players.

On PC, the biggest warning signs are crashes during cutscenes and transitions, alongside Unreal Engine 5-style traversal stutter. Performance can otherwise be smooth at 1440p and 120fps with DLSS enabled, but limited graphics options leave fewer ways to tune around instability. Players encountering crashes should update GPU drivers, lower texture quality to reduce VRAM pressure, cap the frame rate, and disable overlays or recording tools before changing broader settings.

PS5 players face a different risk profile. The concern is less likely to be a crash at launch and more likely to be inconsistent motion: stutter when new areas stream in, frame drops during busy combat, and UI or control friction that makes menus and prompts feel unreliable. Cinematic mode also locks cutscenes to 24fps, separating their presentation from gameplay performance.

Anyone buying now should use the first 30 minutes as a practical stability check: play through the first story scene, enter a new area, trigger a demanding fight, move continuously through a dense location, and open inventory and settings menus. Repeatable hitches are more concerning than a single brief asset-load pause; a crash or delayed controls are stronger reasons to stop and use the available refund window.

A patch planned within a week includes camera adjustments and other improvements, so players primarily interested in the combat should wait for its notes and early results before committing at full price.
