1. WickedWhims — the one everything else is built around

If you install one adult mod for The Sims 4, it is this one. TURBODRIVER’s WickedWhims is the framework that replaces the base game’s fade-to-black WooHoo with animated sex, adds an attractiveness system, nudity settings, exhibitionism, cycle and pregnancy tracking, and — crucially — an animation API that most other adult mods hook into.

Status: the public build is v185k, released 23 May 2026, and the official download page lists support through 1.126.78 (6 August). It is hosted on wickedwhimsmod.com and TURBODRIVER’s itch.io page, and it is free — early access builds go to Patreon supporters first, then release publicly, which is the arrangement EA’s mod policy actually permits.

What to know before you install: WickedWhims is a script mod. That means it needs “Script Mods Allowed” ticked in the game options, and it means a Sims 4 patch can break it outright until TURBODRIVER pushes an update. It also ships without animations — the mod is the engine, and you download animation packs separately from creators who publish for it.

2. WonderfulWhims — the same systems, no explicit content

Same creator, deliberately clean. WonderfulWhims keeps the attractiveness system, personality-driven relationships, menstrual cycles, contraception and pregnancy realism, and drops every sexual animation and nudity feature. It is the mod people mean when they say WickedWhims “doesn’t have enough to do.”

Status: actively updated by Nisa K. The public build reported in circulation is LL.3.8a from 15 May 2026, with a Patreon build (2.3.3d) dated 27 May 2026. Because the public and supporter version numbers run on separate tracks, check the creator’s own changelog against your game version before installing — third-party mirrors routinely serve builds a year out of date.

4. Devious Desires — the standalone alternative

ColonolNutty’s Devious Desires is the main alternative to the WickedWhims ecosystem — it runs on its own rather than as an add-on, and it covers a considerably broader and darker range of interactions. It is the most extreme mod on this list by some distance, and worth reading the feature list on before you commit.

Status: v5.35, dated 13 July 2026, distributed primarily through the creator’s Patreon. Note that the third-party mirrors that index it lag badly — several still list v5.32 or earlier as “latest”. Go to the source.

5. Basemental Drugs — adjacent, and the best-maintained mod on this page

Not a sex mod, but it lives in the same folder for most people and it is the single most reliably updated mature mod in the community. Basemental Drugs adds a full substance system — dealing, addiction, withdrawal moodlets, rehab, police consequences — with a level of polish that embarrasses a lot of official content.

Status: public build 8.18.183, released 3 August 2026. The creator’s site states patch 1.126.58 was fully tested with no update required, which is the fastest turnaround of anyone here. Download from basementalcc.com only.

6. Sacrificial’s mods — alive, but on ice

Extreme Violence, Life Tragedies and Road to Fame are the mature-but-not-sexual side of the modding scene, and their status is more nuanced than “dead” or “active”. Sacrificial’s last feature update was 1 July 2025. On 9 August 2026 he posted that his mods are compatible with the 6 August mini-patch and that no update is needed if you are on the latest version — while also confirming he is currently on a break from modding, and will keep the mods patch-compatible rather than adding features.

Mods people still recommend that you should skip

• KinkyWorld. Constantly recommended in Sims 4 threads. It is a Sims 3 mod. There is no verified Sims 4 build, and any download page claiming otherwise deserves a hard look.
• Anything on a mirror site with a 2022 date. The aggregator sites that index adult mods are frequently a year or more behind the creator’s actual release. An outdated script mod does not fail gracefully — it throws exceptions and corrupts saves.
• Anything behind a permanent paywall. EA’s mod policy is explicit: mods cannot be sold, licensed or rented. Early access for a reasonable period is allowed, but a mod that never releases publicly is operating against the policy — and is usually a re-upload of someone else’s work.
