Getting Started in Bizarre Lineage (What I Wish I Knew)

After sinking my first weekend into Bizarre Lineage, I realized the game doesn’t really stop to explain how Stands, stats, fighting styles, and Prestige all fit together. I wasted early Stat Points, rerolled good Stands by accident, and Prestiged later than I should have. This guide is the version of my notes I wish I’d had on day one.

This is written for completely new players on Roblox (PC or mobile) who want to:

  • Understand the basic controls and keybinds (including Stand summoning)
  • Level efficiently and allocate Stat Points without bricking a build
  • Summon, reroll, and grow your Stands the smart way
  • Pick solid early Fighting Styles and Sub-Abilities
  • Use the three-tier Prestige system to unlock storage and progression safely

If you follow the steps below, you’ll have a functional build and a clear progression plan within a couple of hours of actual playtime.

Controls & Keybinds (PC and Mobile)

Bizarre Lineage feels familiar if you’ve played other Roblox RPGs, but there are a couple of key things the game doesn’t shout at you.

Core keyboard & mouse controls

The exact bindings can change with updates, but the important part is this:

  • Movement & camera: Standard Roblox movement on keyboard (WASD) with the mouse controlling the camera.
  • Combat: Light/heavy attacks and abilities are mapped to mouse buttons and keys around your movement hand (Q, E, R, etc.), similar to most “bandit beater” RPGs.
  • Open menus: You’ll find Character/Stats, Settings, and other menus in the usual GUI buttons; learn where they are early.
  • Summon / dismiss Stand: Press TAB by default.

The breakthrough for me came when I stopped trying to guess keybinds and instead:

  • Opened Settings from the in-game menu
  • Went to the Controls / Keybinds section
  • Read through every action once, and rebound anything that felt awkward

Tip: Do this before you dive into tough quests. Changing a dodge or block key mid-fight is how I lost more than one run.

Playing on mobile

Yes, Bizarre Lineage works on mobile, but the control layout is still a bit clunky. Buttons can feel cramped, and it’s easy to mis-tap abilities when the action gets hectic.

  • Consider starting on PC to learn the game’s systems first.
  • On mobile, lower your camera sensitivity in the Roblox settings so you’re not spinning wildly while trying to aim abilities.
  • Stick to simpler Stands and Fighting Styles at first; fewer buttons means fewer misinputs.

I expect the control layout to improve over time, but for now, treat mobile as “it works, but it’s harder,” especially for PvP.

Leveling Up & Stat Allocation (Don’t Brick Your Build)

How leveling works

You gain experience (XP) from pretty much anything combat-related:

  • Defeating regular enemies (bandits, thugs, etc.)
  • Completing story and side quests
  • Participating in raids and group content

Each time you level up, you earn Stat Points. You spend these in the Character Statistics menu. I ignored this screen for several levels and ended up with a weak, unfocused build. Don’t repeat that mistake.

What each stat actually does

When you open the Character Statistics menu, you’ll see a short description under each stat. Here’s what they mean in practical terms:

  • Strength – Increases physical damage from your base attacks and melee-focused styles.
  • Health – Increases your maximum HP. This directly determines how many mistakes you can survive.
  • Power – Increases Sub-Ability damage and your max Power resource (used to cast those abilities).
  • Weapon – Increases damage of weapon and slash attacks (katanas, etc.).
  • Destructive Power – Boosts your Stand’s physical attacks (punches, barrages, close-range hits).
  • Destructive Energy – Boosts your Stand’s special abilities (projectiles, beams, bigger AoEs).

Beginner-friendly translation: if you play “fists and Stands,” you care most about Health, Destructive Power, and Destructive Energy. If you like swords and Sub-Abilities, you’ll lean more on Weapon and Power.

Safe early-game stat spreads

Here’s what finally worked for me after some painful respec moments:

  • Always invest in Health. Early on, I try to keep roughly one-third of my total points in Health. Extra HP turns close calls into survivable fights.
  • Stand-focused build (what most beginners end up with):
    • Health first until you stop getting one-shot
    • Then alternate between Destructive Power and Destructive Energy depending on whether your Stand is more punchy or ability-heavy.
  • Weapon/Sub-Ability build:
    • Health as a baseline
    • Weapon for your main damage tool
    • Power if you rely heavily on your Sub-Ability skills.

Don’t overthink min-maxing at level 5. The important thing is to avoid scattering single points into every stat “just in case” – that’s what made my early damage feel terrible.

Mid-game note: As you approach higher levels, the game starts to open up “uncap” options (like pushing certain stats beyond their first soft cap once you’re around level 50 via special NPC dialogue). That’s when more specialized builds really shine, but as a beginner you just need a sturdy, focused setup.

Stands: Summoning, Rerolling, and Leveling Them Properly

Summoning and using your Stand

Your Stand is your main identity in Bizarre Lineage. To bring it out, press TAB (by default). You’ll see your Stand appear next to you, and many of your attacks and abilities will change to Stand-based moves.

Each Stand comes with:

  • A set of active abilities (mapped to keys)
  • Passive skills that unlock as you progress its Stand Conjuration level

You increase a Stand’s Conjuration by fighting with it – defeating enemies and completing quests while the Stand is active. The early passives are nice, but the later ones are much stronger, so sticking with a Stand long enough to level it can be more rewarding than constantly rerolling.

How Stand Arrows and rerolls work

Stand Arrows are your reroll currency. Using one gives you a random Stand and overwrites your current Stand and its progress.

Based on my runs, the most reliable ways to get Stand Arrows are:

  • Completing quests and story progression
  • Opening chests around the world
  • Participating in events and raids
  • Redeeming limited-time codes when they’re active
  • Picking them up from the ground when they spawn naturally

Important: Don’t make my early-game mistake of burning every Arrow the moment you get it. A decent Stand that you know how to use will carry you farther than chasing a mythical S-tier you never roll.

Later on, you’ll also find special chests or items that say things like “2x chance for [type] Stand.” These are worth saving for when you’re seriously hunting for a specific archetype.

Stand Awakening (Ultimate ability)

As you progress, you’ll unlock the option to Awaken your Stand, giving it a powerful Ultimate (usually on the H key). This typically involves completing quests tied to world events. It’s worth starting this process as soon as the game lets you, because an Awakened Stand feels like a huge power spike in both PvE and PvP.

Fighting Styles & Sub-Abilities (Your Utility Toolkit)

It took me a while to realize that Stands are only one part of your kit. Fighting Styles and Sub-Abilities round out your playstyle with extra damage, defense, and utility.

Fighting Styles and where to get them

Fighting Styles focus on melee combat and give you their own moveset. Here are the core ones and how I tracked them down:

  • Boxing
    • Example moves: Liver Crusher, White Fang, Dempsey Roll
    • How I got it: Talk to the Boxing Coach on the upper floor of the Gym building (near Bus stop 2).
    • Why it’s good: Straightforward, aggressive style that pairs well with close-range Stands.
  • Karate
    • Example moves: Sixth Massacre, Seiken Barrage, Tatsumaki
    • Where: The Karate Sensei hangs out near the Hospital area (around Bus stop 15).
    • Feel: Cleaner, more precise than Boxing, with solid combos.
  • Kendo
    • Example moves: Whirlwind, Silent Edge, Rising Tempest
    • Where: The Samurai Master is inside the Kame Yu Market (also around Bus stop 15).
    • Feel: Great if you like weapon-based play and stylish swings.

My advice: pick one style that matches your Stand range (Boxing for close, Kendo for mid-range) and stick with it long enough to learn its combos. Constantly swapping just slows your progression.

Sub-Abilities and how they change your build

Sub-Abilities act like a secondary power set, with three unique skills and a passive bonus each. They’re more utility-focused but can completely change how safe or aggressive you can play.

  • Hamon (The Ripple)
    • Moves: Sunlight Yellow Overdrive, Sendo Ripple Overdrive, Scarlet Overdrive
    • Passive: HP regeneration.
    • Where I found it: Talk to the Ancient Ghost near Bus stop 13.
    • Why I like it: Great sustain in longer fights and grinding sessions.
  • Cyborg
    • Moves: Ultraviolet Radiation Apparatus, Missile Volley, Machine Gun
    • Passive: +15% Defense, reducing incoming damage.
    • Where: Speak to Rudol von Stroheim near Bus stop 3.
    • Why it’s strong: The flat defense boost makes learning new bosses and PvP much less punishing.
  • Vampire
    • Moves: Space Ripper Stingy Eyes, Leeching Terror, Flash Freeze
    • Passive: HP regeneration.
    • How to unlock: Use a Vampire Mask item.
    • Why it’s popular: Strong theme and sustain; feels great if you like aggressive trades.

For my first serious character, I went with a Stand + Boxing + Cyborg setup. The extra defense from Cyborg plus my Health investments made me ridiculously tanky while I was still learning patterns.

Prestige & Stand Storage (Long-Term Progression)

Prestige is where Bizarre Lineage starts thinking long-term. I ignored it for too long because I was scared of resetting progress, but used correctly it’s how you grow your account instead of just your current character.

How Prestige works

You can Prestige up to three times. To do it, you must:

  • Reach the current maximum level
  • Have at least 10,000 Cash on you
  • Talk to the Arch Mage NPC in the TC Hospital (near Bus stop 10)

Each Prestige gives you:

  • 5 Prestige Points
  • 1 extra Stand Storage slot (free, permanent)

You spend Prestige Points at the Arch Mage on exclusive items like Stand Stat Essences, Personality Essences, and other high-value unlocks that help power up or customize your Stands.

Warning: Prestiging resets parts of your character progression (level and related stats). Read the confirmation window carefully and only do it once you’re comfortable re-leveling with your current knowledge and Stands.

Stand storage, skins, and monetization

Since your Stand defines your playstyle, managing Stand storage is huge:

  • Every Prestige grants 1 free Stand Storage slot.
  • You can also buy extra storage slots in the Robux shop (for a premium currency cost).

Cosmetic customization comes from Stand skins:

  • Unlocked via Lucky Arrows and Stand Skin Essences.
  • Lucky Arrows can drop from Legendary Chests and can be purchased from the Raid shop.
  • Stand Skin Essences come from Prestige and the Robux shop.

My rule of thumb: use Robux (if you’re spending) on storage and maybe a VIP-style boost before cosmetics. Extra storage makes it much less painful to hang onto rare Stands you might want later.

Putting It All Together (A Simple Early-Game Plan)

To wrap this up, here’s the progression route that gave me a smooth start instead of a messy one:

  • Step 1 – Fix your controls
    • Open Settings → Controls, learn the bindings, and rebind anything uncomfortable.
    • Practice summoning/dismissing your Stand with TAB in a safe area.
  • Step 2 – Do story and basic quests
    • Focus on early quests to learn the map and earn your first levels and cash.
    • Open your Character Statistics after every few levels and spend points.
    • Prioritize Health + your main damage stat (Destructive Power/Energy or Weapon).
  • Step 3 – Lock in a Fighting Style & Sub-Ability
    • Pick one Fighting Style that complements your Stand and stick with it.
    • Grab an early Sub-Ability like Hamon or Cyborg for sustain or defense.
  • Step 4 – Treat Arrows as precious
    • Use Stand Arrows to escape truly bad rolls, but don’t spam them.
    • Once you find a Stand that feels good, commit to leveling its Conjuration.
  • Step 5 – Plan your Prestige
    • When you hit max level and have 10,000 Cash, decide if you’re ready to reset.
    • Prestige through the Arch Mage when you’re prepared to re-level faster with your improved knowledge.
    • Enjoy the extra Stand storage and Prestige-only items.

Once you get comfortable juggling Stands, stats, a chosen Fighting Style, and a solid Sub-Ability, Bizarre Lineage stops feeling overwhelming and starts feeling like a deep sandbox for experimenting with builds. If I could get from clueless to confident in a few evenings, you can absolutely do the same – just don’t forget to spend those Stat Points and stop rerolling every time you find a new Arrow.
