Code Vein II’s Mask of Idris Has a Major Save-File Catch

Code Vein II’s September 9 drop is less a conventional DLC launch than a new endgame layer: every player gets Version 2.0’s post-clear content, while Mask of Idris is reserved for saves that have already reached the right narrative milestone. That distinction makes checking progression more important than buying the expansion on day one.

The free update introduces Age of Harmony, letting players explore the world after the main story alongside their partners. It also adds small epilogue episodes for each partner and makes Jadwiga summonable. For returning players, that turns a finished save into a place to revisit party pairings and builds rather than simply a completed campaign. The update is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S alongside the DLC.

Mask of Idris continues after the main story in the Forsaken World, an alternate realm created from Temporal Rifts left by altered history. Its central force, the Spindle of Pathos, draws emotions across time and space. The expansion adds quests, boss encounters, weapons, Formae, and partners Liv Voda and Lou MagMell. Liv, Valentin Voda’s half-sister and the original guardian of the Temporal Rift, is an aggressive halberd fighter; her Chariot Rave Formae and Linkage Trait support weapon staggering.

Before entering the Forsaken World, players need the second ending, Luna Fraterna, and must complete Valentin’s Request to the “Discussion with Valentin: MagMell Island Tome” stage. A fresh or unfinished save cannot use the expansion as a mid-story detour. Completing Mask of Idris also unlocks Another Color customization for all 14 buddy characters, including Liv and Lou.

Mask of Idris is included with Code Vein II’s Deluxe and Ultimate editions and sold separately for standard-edition owners; its standalone price has not been disclosed. Version 2.0 is the clear reason to return, but Mask of Idris is worth purchasing only once that Luna Fraterna save-file gate is cleared.
