Control Resonant: How to Complete Subway Fault – Reach and Sealing

FinalBoss6 min read
The Subway Fault unlocks Reach through Jesse’s ritual, then requires that ability to reach the television from Dylan’s side and seal the door. Correctly navigating the train passages and the final platform route is essential to completing the chapter.

Railyard Street Station, in the northeastern Evacuation Zone, is the starting point for The Subway Fault. Approaching the station triggers Jesse’s visions and starts the mission. Descend through the mezzanine and tiled stairways to reach the subway platforms.

Table of Contents (7)

Find the route through the stationary trains

From the platforms, follow the accessible track into the tunnels. Stationary train cars serve two different purposes along this route: some are passages, while others provide elevated surfaces for crossing gaps.

When a train car blocks the intended passage, go through the car. Searching for another tunnel entrance can take you away from the route. In sections where the path continues above or across the tracks, use stationary trains as platforms to reach higher or opposite ledges. Check whether the next accessible section runs through the carriage or over it before moving on.

Cross the moving-train sections from shelter

The moving-train corridors require short crossings between protected positions. Move onto a lower side platform or another sheltered section when a train approaches, wait for it to clear, then advance to the next safe area. Attempting to sprint through the entire corridor leaves Dylan exposed without a place to wait.

  • Ordinary track corridors: identify the next side platform before leaving cover. Begin the crossing after the train has passed.
  • The distorted section with vertical rails: time the jumps across the gap around the train movement. Treat each landing as a separate crossing rather than committing to the whole section at once.
  • The following descending train tunnel: land on the side platform instead of dropping through the second opening. That opening is the specific drop to avoid.

Keep the distinction between stationary and moving trains clear: stationary cars can support the route, while moving trains determine when it is safe to cross. A visible destination does not mean the track between you and it is safe.

Clear the Mold before continuing through narrow sections

The deeper subway contains Mold-covered passages and additional Mold enemies, including stronger variants. Clear the enemies blocking your route before attempting narrow ledges or exposed jumps. Attacks during a crossing can knock Dylan into the tracks or a gap.

In the construction-area section, defeating the Mold enemy clears the green Mold wall and opens the way forward. If that wall remains in place, finish the encounter before looking for a route around it.

Later tunnel geometry can require a drop through a hole or gravity alignment before you can continue through the door beside the Mold. Where the next surface needs to become a usable floor, use Shift to align gravity with a Gravity Anomaly. Shift is the traversal ability obtained from the parking-lot Fault in the West Incursion Zone; Reach is the separate unlock you are pursuing here.

Enter the television and complete Jesse’s ritual

Continue through the rail tunnels to the CRT television at the bottom of the subway chasm. Interact with it to enter the Fault. Inside, the environment changes to golden-lit, altered railway structures, with a narrow beam bridge over the void and dialogue from the Board.

Follow the linear platforms across this environment toward the floating platform and Jesse. Speak with her and help complete the ritual. Reach becomes available after the ritual. Reaching Jesse’s location alone does not finish the unlock sequence.

Reach is a Fault-based traversal reward. Combat abilities come from defeating Resonants, so fighting an additional power boss or changing combat choices is not the unlock method for this movement ability.

Use Reach to follow the newly accessible route

Reach pulls Dylan toward glowing Reach Points: luminous orbs placed on traversal surfaces. These points provide access across gaps that ordinary jumps, Shift, or Elevate cannot cover. The first tutorial uses them to move between platforms and stationary trains.

After obtaining the ability, return to the train area and follow the points on both sides of the room and on the stationary trains in the center. The larger tunnel also has Reach Points along the ground and walls. Use their positions to trace the route upward and around the tunnel.

Wait for moving trains to pass before grappling across their path. Reach changes how you cross the gap, but the train remains a hazard during the movement. Launching toward a point too early can carry Dylan directly into it.

If a Reach Point is too far away from your position on the ground, jump and glide toward it before activating Reach. The ability can latch on while Dylan is airborne, allowing you to close the distance before the grapple.

Complete the platform route and seal the TV from Dylan’s side

The final sealing objective requires you to approach the television from Dylan’s side. Returning to the TV along the original approach does not complete that requirement.

Continue along the newly accessible Reach route, moving between the side platforms and central stationary trains, then upward and around the tunnel. Time the exposed grapples after the moving trains clear. Follow the platform-sealing route until it brings you to the television’s opposite side.

Once you have completed that platform route, interact with the TV and seal the door from your side. If you are back at the television but cannot finish the objective, check your approach: the missing step is reaching the required side through the Reach platform layout, rather than revisiting the initial entry position.

Continue after Jesse forgets Dylan

After the sealing sequence, Jesse’s connection to Dylan changes and she forgets who he is. This is a scripted story transition, not a failed sealing interaction. Follow the updated mission markers after the scene; there is no need to repeat the ritual or return through the train route.
