Save your resources before powering Central Checkpoint. Inserting the final power cell immediately starts a Hiss fight, and the checkpoint room gives enemies enough angles to punish players who arrive low on health, ammunition, or ability energy. The clean route through “Welcome to Manhattan” is to calibrate the Downtown Mapping Pylon first, use its fast-travel door, relay the charge through the maintenance network, then follow Zoe’s route to the FBC Field Office in the VERCONN building.

Welcome to Manhattan route order
Keep the mission in this order. The Downtown map and its objective markers become far more useful after the Mapping Pylon is online, while the Field Office will remain inaccessible until Zoe has cleared Dylan Faden through the route.
- Leave the Oldest House and enter Central Manhattan.
- Fight through the first Hiss zones and speak with the maintenance worker.
- Calibrate the Downtown Mapping Pylon by activating three nearby transmitters.
- Use the newly available fast-travel door and enter the maintenance power route.
- Carry the power cell between cores until Central Checkpoint is active.
- Clear the checkpoint Hiss ambush.
- Meet Zoe at the Watchtower and follow the supply route.
- Reach the FBC Field Office, enter Field Command, and collect the Level 1 Security Keycard.
Leave the Oldest House and handle the first Hiss zones
Exit the Oldest House and follow the mission marker into Central Manhattan. Hiss enemies appear soon after entering the city, so avoid sprinting past the first encounter and getting surrounded between cover positions. Clear enough space to advance, then keep moving toward the Downtown Mapping Pylon objective.
The early combat spaces reward a measured approach. Use hard cover against ranged Hiss fire, retreat into the area you have already cleared if several enemies collapse on your position, and avoid consuming health drops while the nearest threats are still active. The mission has several forced combat gates, so arriving at the next objective with recoverable health matters more than rushing through a single street fight.
Before working on the pylon, complete the maintenance-worker conversation. This is an easy progression check to miss when the main tower is already visible from the rooftops. The dialogue establishes the pylon task and ensures the next marker updates properly when the network comes online.
Calibrate the Downtown Mapping Pylon
Head south across the rooftops toward the main pylon. The central tower cannot be fully activated until its three smaller transmitters around the perimeter have been restored. Interact with each transmitter individually, then return to the central pylon and use its activation prompt to reveal the Downtown zone map.
- Follow the southern rooftop route toward the tall pylon structure.
- Circle the tower instead of stopping at the first visible console.
- Activate all three transmitters or sensors around the pylon.
- Return to the main tower after the third interaction.
- Activate the Mapping Pylon to update the local map and mission route.
The common failure here is treating the nearby radio-style transmitter as the entire objective. The practical fix is simple: sweep the full pylon perimeter. If the central tower has no activation prompt, one of the three surrounding interactions is still incomplete. Do not leave the rooftop area to search the streets for another route; the required transmitters are clustered around the main structure.
Once calibrated, the pylon does more than clear the immediate objective. It gives the Downtown sweep structure by exposing the relevant route on the map, including the power-network direction. This is the point where the mission stops feeling like a loose rooftop search and becomes a connected path through the city.
Use the fast-travel door instead of forcing the street route
After activating the Mapping Pylon, follow the updated marker to the fast-travel door tied to the map network. Use that door when prompted. The surrounding streets can look like they offer alternate access, but the mission expects the network route and may leave apparent shortcuts blocked until the pylon sequence is complete.
If the door remains unavailable, run through this short check before backtracking:
- Confirm that all three pylon transmitters were activated.
- Interact with the main Mapping Pylon after restoring the transmitters.
- Finish the maintenance-worker conversation.
- Open the map and confirm that the objective marker has moved from the rooftop area.
Relay the power cell to Central Checkpoint
The maintenance section uses one charge carried through a chain of empty power cores. Find the charged power box, strike it or use a melee hit to pick up the power cell, then carry that charge directly to the next empty core. Inserting it powers the next part of the route and exposes the following transfer point.
Follow the visible power-box chain instead of trying to throw the charge across gaps or take it through blocked passages. The cell is meant to move core by core. If it is lost, dropped, or refuses to move with you, return to the charged box and strike it again to recover the charge before continuing.

How to solve the multi-level power room
The most confusing transfer occurs in the chamber with stacked floors. Start at the lowest power core, take its charge, and carry it up to the raised platform behind the next power-core box. Insert the cell into that higher box, then continue through the route that has now been powered.
Looking only at the floor-level boxes makes this room appear incomplete. The required destination is above and behind the immediate route. Check the raised platform before assuming the charge has to cross an inaccessible gap.
There is also a worthwhile detour in this section. Charge the empty core beside the locked tunnel door to open it, then collect the Power Upgrade Point inside before returning to the main chain. It is a short diversion and prevents an unnecessary return trip through the maintenance rooms later.
Prepare for the Central Checkpoint Hiss ambush
When the final charge reaches Central Checkpoint, reload and recover before placing it in the checkpoint power unit. The encounter begins as soon as the system comes online, leaving no safe pause to reorganize after the insertion animation.
Fight the Hiss by creating space rather than holding the checkpoint itself. Enemies can approach from multiple sides, and standing beside the activated unit turns the arena into a crossfire. Clear close-range attackers first, then use cover to pick off ranged pressure. Retreating through the room you just powered is effective when the wave bunches together.
- Move away from the checkpoint as soon as the encounter starts.
- Prioritize close Hiss enemies that can force you out of cover.
- Use walls, machinery, and doorways to limit ranged fire.
- Hold a strong ability for the tougher enemy that arrives after the first wave.
- Collect health drops after the immediate area is controlled, rather than stepping into danger for a small recovery.
Once the arena is clear, Central Checkpoint is active and the mission route turns toward the Watchtower. This is the right moment to check nearby rooms for supplies before progressing, since the next stretch includes another combat-clearing objective along the supply path.
Meet Zoe at the Watchtower and clear the supply route
Travel to the Watchtower and speak with Zoe. Her conversation advances “Welcome to Manhattan” and directs Dylan toward the supply route leading to the FBC Field Office. Follow the new waypoint from the Watchtower rather than returning to the original pylon; the mission has shifted northeast toward the VERCONN building.
The supply route is another Hiss gate. Clear the marked enemies before leaving the objective area, then search the accessible side rooms for ammunition, health, and collectibles. The important distinction is that optional pickups can wait for a quick sweep, but the route will not properly advance while the Hiss blocking it remain active.
After the route is secure, continue northeast to the FBC Field Office. The approach can look like a generic city courtyard, but the office entrance depends on the Zoe sequence, so reaching the gate before completing the Watchtower conversation will not open the way forward.
Enter the FBC Field Office and get the Level 1 Keycard
At the FBC Field Office, speak with the guard or gate personnel. Zoe clears Dylan through the checkpoint, granting access to the grounds. Cross the courtyard, follow the Field Command signs, take the marked northern approach into the building, and climb the steps to the circular lobby through the sliding doors.

The Security Keycard is on the central desk or table in the Field Command lobby. Check the middle of the room first. Perimeter desks and adjacent office spaces contain distractions, but the mission item is positioned at the central desk.
Interact directly with the card to finish the mission. Entering the Field Office alone does not complete “Welcome to Manhattan.” The reward grants the Level 1 Security Keycard, Level 1 Security Clearance, a Living Shard, and a Talent Point for the Central Zone.
Level 1 clearance opens doors with Level 1 security panels throughout the accessible zones. Keep the distinction clear when planning future backtracking: this is the first access card, while the later Level 2 Keycard comes from a subsequent Hiss-orb objective after speaking with Arish.
Fix common Welcome to Manhattan progression problems
The Mapping Pylon has no activation prompt
One or more transmitters around the tower are inactive. Circle the entire rooftop perimeter, interact with all three smaller units, then return to the central pylon.
The power route looks blocked
Check above and below the current floor. The multi-level chamber requires carrying the cell from the lower core to the raised platform behind the next power-core box.
The power cell cannot be moved
Return to the charged power box and strike it again to pick up the charge. Then carry it straight to the next empty core instead of searching for a throw route.
The Field Office gate is closed
Go back through the required sequence: clear Central Checkpoint, meet Zoe at the Watchtower, complete the supply-route Hiss encounter, then speak with the guard at the office entrance.
The mission will not complete in the Field Office
Move to the circular Field Command lobby and interact with the Level 1 card on the central desk. The completion trigger is the card pickup itself.
What to do after Welcome to Manhattan
The best practical follow-up is a focused Downtown sweep rather than a full-city detour. Use the calibrated Mapping Pylon to revisit the power-room side tunnel for its Power Upgrade Point if it was skipped, then check every newly accessible Level 1 security panel on the active route. With Central Checkpoint online and the Level 1 card secured, Control Resonant opens its early Manhattan progression path without forcing a blind search through blocked streets.
