The immediate concern is not access to Crisol: Theater of Idols itself, but who-if anyone-will maintain it. With Vermila Studios no longer operating, patches, bug fixes, technical support and any planned post-launch work are now dependent on arrangements outside the Madrid developer.
Vermila initiated an Expediente de Regulación de Empleo, or ERE, that affected the whole workforce and ended the studio’s operations. Game designer Raúl Pernía confirmed that the process closed the company and led to the departure of the entire team. 3D and concept artist Martha Cárdenas also stated that her time at Vermila had ended, confirming the closure and layoffs.

The shutdown lands shortly after Vermila released Crisol: Theater of Idols, its horror shooter published under Blumhouse Games. The game drew attention for combining a Resident Evil-style survival structure-resource management, exploration and puzzles—with a distinctive blood-as-ammunition mechanic. Its Spanish cultural setting and international profile made it a notable release for the country’s independent development scene.

For players on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, a studio closure can quickly turn ordinary post-launch issues into unresolved ones. Community channels may go quiet, save or account problems can become harder to address, and balancing or stability fixes may stop unless the publisher hires external support or assumes responsibility for the live product.

Blumhouse Games now needs to clarify the game’s maintenance plan, support contact route, outstanding patch status and whether Vermila’s assets and development tools are available for continued work.
