Seasonal power remains fully reset. Character Reincarnation changes the administrative and cosmetic side of a Diablo IV seasonal restart, not the leveling curve or gear chase that defines it.
Planned for Season 15 through the Patch 3.2.0 PTR, the option converts an existing Eternal Realm character into a seasonal character at level 1. The same hero keeps their name, class, appearance, cosmetic selections, and accumulated playtime tracking. That gives players who maintain a single long-term main a way to carry that identity into a new season instead of recreating an equivalent character slot.

The conversion does not transfer tangible progression. Equipped gear and personal inventory must be cleared before Reincarnation can proceed, with items moved to the Eternal stash if they are to be kept. The reborn character begins the season without its prior equipment and must rebuild through starter gear, leveling, and the seasonal loot loop. In practical terms, this is a character-shell migration: continuity for the avatar, no shortcut for combat power.

The PTR runs from August 4 through August 11, 2026, and its most useful purpose is validating the boundaries of the system. Players should check that stashed Eternal items remain untouched, confirm which cosmetic layers display after conversion, and see how the game handles inventory exceptions such as quest or miscellaneous items. The feature is also worth testing on characters whose name, class, and long-term playtime record matter more than preserving an old build.

For Season 15, Reincarnation is a cleaner reset mechanism, not a way to import an Eternal endgame character into seasonal content.
