The old reroll-and-pray mindset made duplicate Mythics and crafting materials feel like lottery tickets. You could spend the resources and receive a Mythic that did not fit your class, build, slot, or immediate progression goal. That system encouraged players to chase enough attempts to overcome bad luck.

Direct upgrades shift the value toward planning. Once you can work toward a specific Mythic outcome, your farming should focus on securing a strong eligible Unique base and gathering the resources required for the upgrade. The target is known in advance, so every decision before the craft matters more.

Under direct upgrades, farming is usually the answer when your available Unique bases are weak. Do not rush an upgrade simply because you have enough materials. A mediocre input may get you the Mythic identity you wanted, but it can still leave you with a weaker long-term item than the base you could have waited for.

Use this simple decision order whenever a potential upgrade becomes available:

1. Choose the Mythic your build actually needs. Start with the slot or effect that solves the largest damage, defense, resource, or build-enabling problem.
2. Check your Unique copies before spending anything. Compare affix quality, Greater Affixes, and how close each roll is to the version you would want to keep for the rest of the season.
3. Upgrade only the best candidate you can reasonably replace. A good Unique can be an upgrade seed; an exceptional one deserves protection until you are ready to commit.
4. Return to farming if your base is disposable. Direct crafting removes the random Mythic result, not the need for a strong input item.

This is especially important for players changing builds later in the season. A Unique that is useless for your current setup can still be the ideal starting point for a different endgame build. Salvaging it early saves a little inventory space, then costs you another full farming cycle when you decide to pivot.

Which Uniques Belong in Your Mythic Stash

Keep one best-in-slot copy of every Unique that is central to a build you are likely to run. “Best” does not mean you need a perfect item before you preserve it. It means the copy has clearly better affixes, stronger Greater Affixes, or a roll quality that would make it painful to lose.

• Keep: The best copy of a build-defining Unique, even when it is for an alternate class setup or future build.
• Keep: Strong duplicates with useful Greater Affixes, particularly when the item is difficult to replace at similar quality.

A practical stash rule is to label the best copy as the protected one, then compare every new drop against it. If a new Unique beats the saved version, replace the saved copy and free the weaker one. That prevents the usual problem of holding every duplicate forever while still protecting the pieces that can matter.

How to Farm With a Direct Upgrade in Mind

Once you have chosen a desired Mythic, split your goal into two separate grinds: find the best possible Unique input and build the crafting resources needed to convert it. Do not confuse those goals. Having the materials does not make a weak base desirable, and having a great base does not mean you should waste it on an upgrade that no longer fits your build plan.

Boss farming and other targeted endgame activities remain valuable because they give you repeated chances to improve the input side of the equation. Each useful Unique drop should be evaluated against your protected copy, rather than immediately treated as salvage because it is not an instant equip upgrade.

• My target Mythic has a clear place in my current or planned build.
• I have compared every saved copy of the required Unique and selected the strongest base.
• I am not consuming the only good copy of a build-defining Unique by accident.
• I have separated “upgrade seed” items from ordinary salvage duplicates.
• I am farming for a better base only if the current one is meaningfully below the quality I want to keep.
• I am no longer saving resources for a random reroll outcome that Season 15 removes.

The efficient Season 15 approach is simple: preserve quality Uniques first, choose the Mythic target second, and spend only when both line up. That turns Mythic crafting from a streak of reroll attempts into a controlled endgame upgrade plan.
