Techland has confirmed that Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone follow-up to Dying Light 2, will launch on August 22, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
In Dying Light: The Beast, original protagonist Kyle Crane returns after 13 years of experimentation. He now wields mutation-based powers through a new skill tree, adding a horror-driven twist to the series’ signature parkour combat. Resource scarcity returns with limited ammo and weapon durability, forcing players to strategize every engagement.
“We wanted to lean into the horror roots of the original game and make every night truly tense,” said Peter Smektała, narrative director at Techland. “The forest and swamp biomes on Castor Rock are designed to keep you on edge.”
Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition owners will receive The Beast as a free update. New players can purchase the game as a full-priced standalone title. This approach rewards long-term fans while expanding access to the series.
By focusing on genuine tension, environmental hazards, and personal stakes for Crane, Techland aims to recapture the unpredictability of the first title and redefine its survival horror experience.
