ESO’s August Schedule Has One Clear Priority Before the Crown Store

Elder Scrolls Online opens Update 51 testing on August 3, followed by Whitestrake’s Mayhem from August 5-12 and new Crown Store items.

August 4 is the awkward point in Elder Scrolls Online’s schedule: planned ESO Store and account-system maintenance falls between the Update 51 PTR opening and the start of Whitestrake’s Mayhem. Players intending to buy or gift Crown Store items should handle that before maintenance, but the stronger decision is to delay nonessential spending until the month’s gameplay priorities are clear.

Update 51 reaches the PC/Mac Public Test Server on August 3. Its most meaningful additions are player-experience changes rather than a simple power increase: solo versions of March of Sacrifices and Moonhunter Keep, customizable HUD elements, visual-effect intensity controls, Battle Spirit adjustments, and new Battleground medals for shields, buffs, and debuffs. The solo dungeon feature is scheduled to arrive in week three of the PTR cycle, giving players time to test sustain, healing, companion setups, and clear consistency before treating it as a reason to alter a live build.

PvP-focused players have a more immediate deadline. Whitestrake’s Mayhem runs August 5 through August 12, concentrating activity in Alliance War, Battlegrounds, and Imperial City content. The short window should mean fuller queues and more contested objectives, making it the best period for targeted event participation and short farming sessions. Update 51’s return of three-team Battlegrounds, alongside retained two-team options, is still a PTR consideration — not a reason to wait on the live event.

The Crown Store slate includes a four-seat war elephant mount, a manor house, and cosmetics, with availability now limited to the in-game store following Microsoft-related changes. These are optional against a calendar with practical rewards still ahead: Golden Pursuits, “Straight to the Crate,” runs from August 20 to September 17 and can award up to 20 free Crown Crates.

Practical order: test Update 51 first, use Mayhem for the August 5-12 PvP push, then decide whether any Crown Store item serves a real long-term goal.
