Launched on iOS and Android in September 2023, then on Steam that December, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis was built to condense the wider Compilation into a chapter-based live-service RPG. Its ending now has an unusually hard shape: Square Enix will deliver the final chapter of its original Final Fantasy VII retelling on the game’s third anniversary, then take the entire service offline a month later.
Chapter 13, titled “The Planet’s End,” arrives September 6, 2026, PDT. It closes the base-game adaptation and leads to a final encounter with Sephiroth. For returning players, that makes the chapter the clear priority: finish any necessary story progression early, then clear Chapter 13 well before the deadline rather than treating it as a finale to save for the last week.
The preceding material sets the stage. Chapter 12, “Battle for the Planet,” added August 12, reunites Cloud’s party with Bugenhagen as he explains Holy, while Shinra prepares its Mako ray. On August 26, Ever Crisis also received “Turks Encirclement,” the third and final Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- chapter. That adaptation matters because the original 2004 mobile game was Japan-exclusive and followed the Turks six years before FFVII, fighting AVALANCHE from Shinra’s side.

Service ends simultaneously for the global and Japanese versions on October 6 at 11:00 PM PDT, or October 7 at 3:00 PM JST. Square Enix says updates and events will continue until then, but access ends at that cutoff. The game’s story-only mode is the fastest route for players interested chiefly in the Compilation narratives, since it requires neither battles nor character leveling.
Players pursuing Sephiroth should not assume there is a special published completion checklist: Square Enix has confirmed the final chapter, not a Sephiroth-specific unlock path or reward list. Check in-game event notices for remaining limited rewards, and account for the fact that Red Crystal sales ended July 8. Steam installations were also suspended July 7.

The verdict is simple: treat September 6 through October 6 as Ever Crisis’s final playable season, with Chapter 13 — not unfinished grinding — as the one piece of content worth securing first.
