Fields of Mistria: How to Romance Juniper and March – Gift Guide

FinalBoss·8/5/2026·11 min read

At the end of a mining day, a single Perfect Copper Ore is usually worth more in a March romance run than the money you would get from selling it. Put it in a chest, visit the blacksmith before bed, and make it his one gift for the day. Juniper needs a different supply line — rare forage, mine drops, and later on, high-value cooking — but the rule is the same: talk every day, give one strong gift every day, and clear heart quests as soon as they appear.

Fields of Mistria 1.0 launches on PC through Steam on August 5, 2026, adding marriage, children, and new 10-heart events. Juniper and March can both feel slow when they receive random leftovers, yet both become efficient romance routes once you reserve the right items for them. March is powered by mining; Juniper is powered by forage, monster drops, and eventually cooking.

How Romance Progression Works in Fields of Mistria 1.0

Every romance route begins with the same daily loop. You can speak to each candidate once per day for free relationship progress, then give each NPC one gift per day. A Liked gift is a solid daily gain; a Loved gift is the item worth saving for key pushes, birthdays, and the final stretch to a new heart threshold.

  • Talk to Juniper and March every day. Daily conversations are free progress, and skipping them stretches the route out for no benefit.
  • Give one gift per day to each character. You can romance both in parallel because the one-gift limit is per NPC, not shared across town.
  • Save Loved gifts for birthdays and stalled milestones. Birthday gifts receive a large bonus, so a Loved item is far more valuable there than on an ordinary day.
  • Finish character quests immediately. Heart events and follow-up scenes can be held up by incomplete quests, especially after a letter arrives.
  • Check the town board regularly. Requests from Juniper or March are worth prioritizing when they appear because they support the relationship route and prevent your event chain from sitting idle.

Important: neutral gifts are a trap when you are trying to reach marriage efficiently. They still use that character’s daily gift slot, so handing March a random berry or giving Juniper an item she barely cares about costs a full day of better progress.

If a dedicated gift supply runs dry, keep a few emergency items in storage. Scent of Spring and Cow-Shaped Donuts are universally Loved, while Tulip Cake, Floral Tea for adult villagers, and Chicky Hot Chocolate for non-animal NPCs are broadly Liked. These are backup tools, not replacements for March’s ore loop or Juniper’s tailored gifts.

Juniper Romance Route: Best Gifts and Early Heart Progress

Juniper is easy to find at the bathhouse in central town, but her gift list becomes demanding if you rely only on Loved items. Her strongest gifts include rare artifacts and advanced dishes, so the clean early route is to use accessible Liked forage and mine drops every day while banking premium gifts for major milestones.

Juniper’s birthday is Fall 26. Set aside a Loved gift before that date whenever possible. A birthday Loved gift gives one of the largest single relationship boosts available and can carry you across a heart threshold without needing several extra days of ordinary gifts.

Juniper’s Best Loved Gifts

  • Ancient Royal Scepter
  • Black Tablet
  • Crystal Rose
  • Fish Tacos
  • Golden Cookies
  • Hardened Essence
  • Moon Fruit Cake
  • Mushroom Brew
  • Pizza
  • Spell Fruit Parfait

Most of these are poor choices for a day-one grind because they depend on rare finds, deeper progression, or a developed cooking setup. Use them as spikes: birthdays, the day before a festival date threshold, or when you want to trigger a heart event before changing seasons.

Juniper’s Reliable Liked Gifts

  • Morel Mushroom, Nettle, and Middlemist during Spring
  • Newts from diving spots
  • Monster Powder from Mushroom Monsters
  • Shadow Flowers from the Upper Mines, Floors 1-20
  • Red Toadstools from Mushroom Monsters in the Tide Caverns, Floors 21-40
  • Crystals, Fog Orchids, Night Queens, and Essence Blossoms
  • Latte, Red Wine, White Wine, and Toasted Sunflower Seeds
  • Frogs, Newts, Morel Mushrooms, and Red Toadstools when seasonal forage is thin

The early Juniper route should revolve around Spring forage first. Morel Mushrooms, Nettles from Sweetwater Farm, and Middlemist are all useful Liked gifts. Newts and Monster Powder fill the gaps when forage spawns are unkind. Once you are clearing mine floors regularly, Shadow Flowers and Red Toadstools make the relationship much more stable because they come from activities you will already be doing for progression.

Wine becomes a particularly convenient repeatable Juniper gift once your money and production are steady. It is less explosive than a Loved dish or artifact, but it is far easier to maintain than chasing rare treasure every morning.

Juniper’s First Important Heart Event

Juniper’s first major romance checkpoint arrives at roughly 2 hearts with the event and quest “Becoming Juniper’s Guinea Pig.” Reaching the heart count alone is only half the job. Complete the quest promptly, then return to the normal daily talk-and-gift routine. Leaving it unfinished can interrupt the smooth sequence of later scenes.

For a Juniper-focused save, the efficient rhythm is simple: visit the bathhouse every day, hand over a Liked forage or mine gift, preserve every Loved food or artifact, and treat Fall 26 as a mandatory premium-gift day.

March Romance Route: Turn Mine Runs Into Heart Progress

March is the cleaner route if you enjoy mining. He works near the mines and forges, and his best gifts naturally come from breaking nodes, processing materials, and picking up a few basic drinks or café foods. The key item is Perfect Copper Ore: it is a repeatable Loved gift that can begin dropping from Copper nodes in mine floors 1-20.

Donate the first Perfect Copper Ore you find if you need it for museum progress, then keep the rest. Regular Copper Ore remains a useful Liked fallback, so even an average mine day can still advance March’s hearts.

March’s Best Gifts to Stockpile

  • Loved: Perfect Ores, Meteorite, forged items, and Sushi Platters.
  • Best early Loved option: Perfect Copper Ore from Copper nodes on Floors 1–20.
  • Liked: regular ores and ingots, Beer, Coffee, Chocolate, Hot Chocolate, and several fish dishes.

March’s birthday is Spring 16. Mine Copper early in your first Spring so you have either a Perfect Copper Ore or, at minimum, a regular Copper Ore ready. Beer from the inn is another practical backup if the mines refuse to drop a perfect piece before his birthday.

Avoid using forage, berries, and bugs as March gifts. His preferences are built around ore, forged goods, drinks, and prepared food. The berries that work as convenient pocket gifts for other villagers are a poor use of March’s once-per-day gift opportunity.

March’s Key Heart and Festival Checkpoints

  • About 2 hearts: March sends the letter “Hey,” beginning the quest “Surprise Me.” Finish it as soon as it arrives.
  • 4 hearts by Summer 28: Reach this target in time for the Shooting Star Festival date.
  • Fall 10: A strong relationship also lets you take March to the Harvest Festival and dance.
  • 8 hearts: March’s later scene requires progress beyond the fire seal on Mine Floor 60, so mine completion becomes part of the romance route.

The Floor 60 requirement is the point where a gift-only March run stops working. Continue feeding him Perfect Copper Ore and other mined materials, but push the mine seals as well. Sitting at 8 hearts while the fire seal remains uncleared will delay the scene regardless of how many good gifts you have stored.

Run Juniper and March Together Without Doubling the Grind

The two routes overlap better than they first appear. A daily mine trip can produce March’s Copper Ore and Perfect Copper Ore while also providing Juniper’s Shadow Flowers, Red Toadstools, Monster Powder, crystals, and other useful drops. Keep separate chests or labeled rows for each character so you do not accidentally sell the items that are doing the real relationship work.

  • March chest: Perfect Copper Ore first, then regular ore, ingots, drinks, and specialty food.
  • Juniper chest: Morels, Nettles, Middlemist, Newts, Monster Powder, Shadow Flowers, Red Toadstools, wine, and every Loved dish or artifact.
  • Birthday shelf: One high-value Juniper gift for Fall 26 and one high-value March gift for Spring 16.
  • Emergency shelf: Scent of Spring, Cow-Shaped Donuts, Tulip Cake, and other universal fallbacks for days when your dedicated stock is empty.

This storage habit matters because both romance routes punish impulsive selling. Perfect Copper Ore can look like a small mining bonus until you realize it is March’s repeatable Loved gift. A Crystal Rose or Moon Fruit Cake can look like decorative clutter until Juniper’s birthday turns it into a major heart boost.

What to Do When Fields of Mistria 1.0 Arrives

You do not need to restart an established farm for the 1.0 marriage content. Existing saves carry into version 1.0, and completed achievements also carry over. That makes a prepared save especially valuable: enter launch week with hearts already built, character quests cleared, and premium gifts saved instead of beginning the entire relationship climb from zero.

  • Load your existing save and check both Juniper’s and March’s heart progress.
  • Clear any unfinished romance-related quests before trying to push into the new final scenes.
  • Resume daily conversations and daily gifts immediately; missed days remain the easiest way to slow the route.
  • Use a Loved gift on the next birthday, festival deadline, or heart threshold that matters to your chosen route.
  • Keep advancing the mines if March is your priority, especially if his 8-heart scene is still blocked by the Floor 60 fire seal.
  • Plan around the new 10-heart events and marriage content rather than hoarding gifts indefinitely. Premium items have the most value when they move you into the next event.

Version 1.0 also raises town renown to 100, adds a town rehabilitation quest line, and makes every Saturday Market vendor appear weekly. Those broader additions give an established save more to manage, which is another reason to keep the romance routine compact: bathhouse visit for Juniper, forge visit for March, then return to your normal farm, mine, and town goals.

Best Marriage Prep for Juniper and March

For Juniper, the safest marriage prep is a stable supply of Liked gifts plus a small reserve of Loved food, artifacts, or premium universal gifts. Her route becomes smoother once cooking and deeper mine rewards give you more than seasonal forage to work with. Her Fall 26 birthday is the day to spend the best item you own.

For March, mine consistently and treat Perfect Copper Ore as relationship currency. Reach 4 hearts before Summer 28 if you want the Shooting Star Festival date, complete “Surprise Me” when his letter arrives, and do not neglect mine progress before the 8-heart stage. His route is one of the most efficient in the game when mining is already part of your daily schedule.

The practical split is clear: choose Juniper if you want a forage-and-cooking route with rare gift spikes, or choose March if you want your mine progression to double as a romance engine. Either way, daily conversations, one appropriate gift per day, completed heart quests, and a saved Loved birthday gift will put you in position for Fields of Mistria 1.0’s marriage content without wasting a season on weak presents.
