Final Fantasy 15: New Game + 1.03 Patch & Holiday Pack DLC

New Game Plus: What Has Changed?

New Game + and patch 1.03 went live as of the 21st of December for Final Fantasy 15. It also rolled out with the both the premium Holiday Pack (for season pass holders) and the free Holiday Pack DLC, more on this later. The total size of this patch/update rolls in as a 3.2GB patch.

New Game Plus mode for Final Fantasy 15 will open up new opportunities for existing gamers and newcomers alike.

There are a number of the features that carry over from your existing old game to New Game Plus, and it will certainly impact your second playthrough.

VG 24//7 did a listing feature of what will carry from your old save to your new game in Final Fantasy 15. For your, convenience here is a quick breakdown of what makes the transition from the old save to the new save.

• All weapons, including all Royal Tomb Arminger weapons

• All magic and magic flasks

• All previously acquired skills

• All previously acquired ascension grid abilities

The Ultima Blade and Regalia will revert back to their basic forms, however, so you’ll have to go through the process of upgrading them again. The Ring of Lucii doesn’t carry over either.

What Gameplay Changes Are In New Game Plus?

You can start the New Game + from the main menu. You still have the same options of Normal and Easy difficulty; surprisingly there is no Hard mode. It is also worth noting here that New Game + will overwrite your existing save.

Monster and Boss levels play exactly the same as your first playthrough, there is no scaling of HP or damage to match your higher level in New Game +. Which in short will mean, you will end up doing battle against the same level enemies you did during your first playthrough.

While this may be a disappointment to some Final Fantasy 15 fans, it will still present the nostalgia of playing through the story again. However, your old skills and abilities do give you some extra durability outside of these fights, allowing players to stay out at night and fight some of those high-level daemons that absolutely stomped you in your first playthrough.

It has also been announced that players may get the chance to play Chapter 13 with the changes Director Hajime Tabata stated are in the works in an upcoming short-term update.

Patch 1.03 Additional Changes

Other bits and pieces included in patch 1.03 are as follows;

  • Various Bug Fixes (however the Aranea party glitch still works)
  • Cid can upgrade multiple weapons – You still have to pick them up separately. E.g. Cid could be upgrading the Drain Lance and the Engine blade simultaneously.
  • Changed screen formatting to fix HUD cut-off issues on some displays
  • Photo Op: Quarry is fixed
  • You can now also sell upgradeable weapons.
