Turn 10 Axes Forza Motorsport Team After 50% Layoffs

Turn 10 Studios has cut half of its staff and shuttered the Forza Motorsport division, redirecting its remaining team to support Forza Horizon 5. The move was first highlighted by Fred Russell, a former Turn 10 engineer, who shared on Facebook that “Turn 10 Studios has shut down the Forza Motorsport space and the team no longer exists.”

No official statement has been released by Xbox Game Studios. With Playground Games occupied by the Fable reboot, Turn 10’s reduced roster will focus on Horizon maintenance, leaving Motorsport without its core developers.

What’s Next for Forza Motorsport?

Fans should expect bug fixes and minor patches, but major content updates or new features appear unlikely without a dedicated studio. Microsoft has yet to clarify whether another team might take over Motorsport or if the series will enter a prolonged hiatus.

For sim racing enthusiasts, this signals a major shift in Xbox’s racing strategy. While Forza Horizon thrives on open-world festival gameplay, the more simulation-focused Motorsport series faces an uncertain road ahead.

Looking ahead: We’ve contacted Xbox for comment and will update this story as new details emerge.
