GCX 2025: Celebrating 10 Years of Gaming and Giving

On July 25–26, Universal Orlando Resort will host the 10th anniversary of the Gaming Community Expo (GCX), merging high-energy gameplay, behind-the-scenes access and a major charity push. Since its debut in 2016, GCX has grown into a must-attend event for families, content creators, industry insiders and streamers, all united by a passion for interactive entertainment and goodwill.

Event Overview

Last year’s GCX attracted over 12,500 attendees for hands-on demos, studio panels and exclusive fan meet-ups. In 2025, the lineup expands with:

  • First looks at unreleased AAA and indie titles in demo lounges.
  • Roundtable discussions with leads from Nintendo, Ubisoft, EA and more.
  • Interrupted Q&A sessions featuring top streamers and esports pros.
  • A private, after-hours celebration at Islands of Adventure (10 PM–1 AM, July 26).

What’s New in 2025

To celebrate a decade of gaming, this year brings fresh elements aimed at bridging developers and fans in novel ways:

  • Indie Incubator: A showcase area dedicated to emerging studios, with live feedback sessions.
  • Cosplay Charity Parade: A family-friendly costume walk that raises funds per participant for St. Jude.
  • Retro Arcade Zone: A curated collection of classic cabinets and turn-based tournaments.
  • VR Spotlight Stage: Timed demos of upcoming virtual reality experiences hosted by leading VR studios.

Gaming Does Good

GCX’s signature “Gaming Does Good” initiative has contributed over $33 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2016. Every ticket, swag purchase and live charity stream funnels directly into patient care and groundbreaking research.

“Seeing our community rally around a cause bigger than ourselves is incredible,” says GCX director Jane Mitchell. “Year ten will honor that legacy with new fundraising goals and unforgettable moments.”

Twitch streamer Alex Torres, who raised $5,000 during his 2024 GCX broadcast, adds: “Combining gameplay with impact—that’s what keeps me coming back every summer.”
