For PlayStation 5 players who primarily want to play God of War Laufey, the Standard Edition is the sensible purchase. The Collector Box makes sense for buyers who specifically want its light-up Faye statue and are comfortable paying for the collectibles separately from the game.

What’s included in the Collector Box?
The set contains three main collectibles inside a decorated presentation box:
- Light-up Faye statue: An approximately eight-inch-tall resin figure depicting Faye in combat. Its lighting runs from a USB power source, illuminating Phranque, her cube companion. This is the centerpiece of the package.
- 51-card Oracle Deck: A themed physical deck connected to the game’s mythology and world.
- Physical mini artbook: A compact collection of concept art from the game.
- Collector’s packaging: A decorated presentation box housing the statue, cards and artbook.
There is no physical game, download code or steelbook. Ordering the box does not give you access to the standalone action-adventure developed by Santa Monica Studio.
Price: budget for the box and game separately
The Collector Box costs €149.99 in Europe or £129.99 in the UK. A separate game purchase adds approximately €80-90 to the European bill, depending on the edition and regional pricing. That puts the combined purchase at roughly €230-240, before any additional checkout charges.

The Standard Edition’s announced price in Spain is €79.99. At that price, pairing it with the €149.99 box costs exactly €229.98. The box’s price buys the statue, cards, artbook and packaging; gameplay access requires its own purchase.
That separate charge is the central issue behind the fan backlash. Buyers expecting a premium game edition still have to fund the game afterward, while the physical package also omits a steelbook. Judge its value against the collectibles you want to own, rather than treating €149.99 as your launch-day gaming budget.
Should you pre-order, buy the standard game or wait?
| Purchase route | European cost | Best fit | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | €79.99 in Spain | You want to play on PS5 without paying for collectibles. | No Collector Box merchandise. |
| Collector Box plus a separate game | Approximately €230–240 | The Faye statue is a must-have, and you also want launch access. | Two purchases; the box itself contains no game. |
| Wait before buying | Depends on later pricing and availability | You want to inspect the finished statue and lighting before spending €149.99. | Limited box stock may sell out. |
The statue should carry most of your decision. If the Oracle Deck and mini artbook are appealing extras but the figure itself does little for you, the Standard Edition avoids a substantial merchandise bill. If the statue is the attraction, waiting for detailed unboxing photos gives you a better basis for judging its finish and illumination, at the cost of risking availability.

Pre-order timing and the bonus distinction
Collector Box pre-orders opened through PlayStation Direct on October 13, 2026, at 10am local time, in limited quantities. The box’s release date is February 16, 2027, alongside the PS5 game.
Game pre-order bonuses include the Last Wish Armor Set, a Phranque Golden Leaves appearance and an in-game resource pack. Keep those digital rewards separate from the physical box contents when comparing purchases: the Collector Box still requires a separate Standard or Digital Deluxe game purchase to play.
