Grand Theft Auto Online: How to Find the Gun Van at 6:00 UTC

FinalBoss·8/5/2026·9 min read

The fastest way to find the Gun Van in Grand Theft Auto Online is to join a Freemode session created after 06:00 UTC, then use the permanent map icon if you have GTA+ or check a current-day Gun Van tracker before driving out. Without GTA+, the grey modified Speedo Custom only appears on your map when you are roughly 500 metres away, so blindly searching Los Santos can take far longer than it needs to.

The Gun Van, also called the Waffentransporter, uses one of 30 fixed spawn locations across Los Santos and Blaine County. Its location changes every real-world day at the 06:00 UTC reset, while its weapons, throwables, ammunition, and armour stock rotates with the weekly GTA Online update.

Why the Gun Van Is Worth Finding

The Gun Van is a mobile arms dealer added with the Los Santos Drug Wars update in January 2023. It is easy to miss because it looks like a plain grey Speedo Custom parked in an out-of-the-way spot, but its stock can include valuable special weapons such as the Railgun, plus discounted guns, throwables, ammunition, and body armour.

Its inventory is limited to the current rotation, so it does not replace every Ammu-Nation purchase. The advantage is access: special or less commonly available weapons can appear here, and the van’s discounts can make expensive restocks much cheaper. Check the stock after you arrive rather than assuming that a weapon available last week will still be there.

The 06:00 UTC Reset and Why Old Sessions Cause Problems

The active Gun Van location changes at 06:00 UTC every day. That reset determines the new daily point from the 30-location pool, but the important detail is that an existing session can retain the previous day’s van position.

For a clean daily search, enter GTA Online after 06:05 UTC and make sure the lobby itself was started after the reset. If you joined at 05:30 UTC, for example, your session can still show yesterday’s Gun Van even after the new daily location has become active elsewhere.

  • Join a Freemode lobby after 06:00 UTC to use the current daily location.
  • If the van is at yesterday’s spot, switch to a new Invite Only, Public, or Friends session.
  • Do not expect the van to move while you remain in the same pre-reset session.
  • Use 06:05 UTC rather than the exact reset minute if you want to avoid catching an old lobby.

GTA+ turns the Gun Van hunt into a simple route marker. Subscribers can open the pause map and see the Gun Van icon from anywhere in the world, then set a waypoint and drive directly to it.

Non-GTA+ players do not get that global marker. The icon appears only after getting within around 500 metres of the active spawn. That means you need either an up-to-date interactive map or a route through the main spawn regions.

Best Daily Method: Check the Spot, Then Travel Straight There

For most players, the efficient daily routine is short. First, load into a fresh Freemode session after 06:00 UTC. Next, confirm the active location through the GTA+ icon or a map that has its Gun Van filter enabled. Finally, travel straight to the waypoint and inspect the van’s rotating stock.

A fast car works fine for city locations, but an Oppressor Mk II, Sparrow, or another quick aircraft saves time when the van rolls into northern Blaine County. The daily pool covers a large stretch of the map, so flying is especially useful when the van is in Paleto Bay or near the desert rather than Los Santos.

Manual Gun Van Location Loop Without GTA+

If you need to find the van entirely in-game, sweep the map north to south. The goal is not to drive every road in San Andreas. Enter the main clusters where the 30 fixed points are concentrated, watch the map closely, and stop as soon as the Gun Van icon appears.

1. Start in Northern Blaine County and Paleto Bay

Begin around Paleto Bay, Paleto Forest, and the Great Ocean Highway. Useful landmarks include the area near No Marks Cleaners, the forest turnoff from the Great Ocean Highway, and the road leading into the Paleto Forest. North Chumash is also worth checking, particularly the back-lot area behind Hookies.

Use the main highway to cover this region instead of weaving through every dirt road. If the Gun Van is active here, you should trigger its icon as you pass within range of the correct parking area.

2. Move Through the Central County and Desert Region

From the north, move through the central Blaine County cluster before committing to Los Santos. This section covers the desert and county side of the map, so an aircraft or fast bike is particularly useful. Keep checking the full map and minimap as you enter each potential area; the icon is the confirmation that matters, not the van’s visual appearance from far away.

Do not double back immediately after missing one isolated roadside area. The active location is one of the fixed points, and the 500-metre reveal range means a broad pass through each cluster is more efficient than slow, block-by-block searching.

3. Finish in Los Santos, Mirror Park, and the Docks

Finish the loop in the city. Southern locations include inner Los Santos areas, Mirror Park, industrial districts, and the Terminal area at the Port of Los Santos. Terminal is a particularly useful landmark to remember because the docks are large, easy to reach from the freeway, and regularly used for Gun Van spawns.

When checking city spawns, do not rely on the van being parked beside a main road. Several points are tucked behind buildings, in lots, or around industrial access routes. Get close enough to trigger the icon before deciding the location is empty.

What to Do When the Gun Van Does Not Appear

Most failed Gun Van searches come down to session timing, map visibility, or checking the wrong type of activity. Use this checklist before spending more time on the route.

  • You are using today’s location but find nothing: switch to a new Freemode session. A lobby started before 06:00 UTC may still use yesterday’s location.
  • You cannot see the icon on the map: non-GTA+ players only reveal it from roughly 500 metres away. Move closer to the precise parking area.
  • You are inside an activity, mission, or interior: return to GTA Online Freemode. The Gun Van is a Freemode service.
  • You found the van yesterday but it is gone today: this is normal. The location changes daily, even though the inventory does not refresh every day.
  • The weapon you wanted is missing: the van’s stock follows the weekly update cycle. Check again after the next weekly rotation rather than repeating the same daily location search.
  • You are checking at the reset minute: wait until after 06:05 UTC, then enter a fresh session to avoid a pre-reset lobby.

Daily Location Versus Weekly Inventory

The two rotations are separate. The location changes every day at 06:00 UTC, selecting one of the 30 fixed points. The inventory changes with GTA Online’s weekly event update. A new daily van position therefore does not mean a new Railgun, weapon, or discount lineup.

That distinction matters when you are farming a specific purchase. Check the week’s stock first, then use the daily location method only if the item is currently offered. It prevents a full cross-map trip for a weapon that is not in the active Gun Van catalogue.

Fastest Gun Van Routine

  • Wait until after 06:05 UTC.
  • Join a fresh GTA Online Freemode session.
  • Use the GTA+ map icon or a current-day Gun Van map marker.
  • Travel directly to the active location with a fast vehicle or aircraft.
  • Buy the current discounted weapons, ammunition, throwables, or armour.
  • Switch sessions if the van is missing or appears to be at yesterday’s location.

The Gun Van is easiest to treat as a daily waypoint rather than a collectible hunt: verify the post-reset session, locate the day’s marker, and remember that the van moves daily while its stock changes weekly.
