Grounded 2: How to Find Flower Petals – Picnic Table Route

The first time a crafting recipe asks for Flower Petals, it is easy to waste a trip searching every patch of greenery near the starting area. Head for the Picnic Table instead. It is the reliable early-game farm: purple Hosta Plants grow around it, loose petals spawn on the ground, and the tablecloth gives you access to another set of pickups above.

Start north of the opening area, pass through Snackbar Front, and continue to the Picnic Table. Sweep the ground before breaking any plants, then circle the table clockwise, checking the cloth, the south side, and the space underneath. The eastern Statue area becomes a stronger second farm later, but it is tied to progression and should not be your first Flower Petal run.

Take the Picnic Table route first

The Picnic Table is close enough to the early route that it makes sense to visit whenever you need petals for survival gear or base upgrades. Its value comes from density rather than one guaranteed drop: you are collecting loose purple petals, harvesting nearby Hosta Plants, and checking more than one height level around the same landmark.

1. Travel north from the starting area toward Snackbar Front, then continue to the Picnic Table.
2. Pick up every loose purple petal on the ground around the table before harvesting plants.
3. Check the Hosta Plant southwest of the table, then search for other purple Hosta Plants around the area.
4. Climb the hanging tablecloth and scan the tabletop for extra loose petals.
5. Circle the table, paying particular attention to the south side of the checkered cloth and the ground underneath it.

The trap is only checking the flower bed you can see first. Petals can be lying beside the cloth, in the clutter beneath the table, and on the tabletop itself. A full loop produces more than repeatedly attacking one plant and waiting for the area to refill.

Harvest Hosta Plants after looting the loose petals

Flower Petals come from the purple Hosta Plants around the Picnic Table and from petals that have already fallen nearby. Once you have cleared the visible drops, strike the Hosta Plants with a weapon and collect the petals that fall. Grounded 2’s Omni-Tool reduces the usual survival-game tool juggling, so resource runs are smoother than they were in the original game, but you still need to stop and collect each drop before moving on.

• Loot first: loose petals are the fastest pickups and require no harvesting.
• Harvest second: hit nearby Hosta Plants to force more petals to drop.
• Move immediately: continue around the Picnic Table instead of standing beside one depleted plant.
• Scan the floor after each hit: purple drops can blend into the busy ground around food scraps and table clutter.

This order matters because harvesting before checking the ground can leave you sorting through old drops and fresh ones in the same messy space. Clear the easy pickups, create a new batch from the plant, collect those, and keep your route moving.

Why Flower Petals are worth farming early

Flower Petals feed several useful crafting branches, so they are more valuable than a decorative material stash. The early priorities are recipes that make daily survival and equipment progression easier, especially the Dew Collector and the Ladybug Chestplate. Petals also support decorative and base-building recipes, making a Picnic Table detour worthwhile even after you have completed an immediate armor craft.

• Dew Collector: a practical early utility craft for keeping your base supplied.
• Ladybug Chestplate: an armor-related use that makes Flower Petals relevant to survivability rather than cosmetics alone.
• Base and decoration recipes: save excess petals instead of discarding them after one upgrade.

If supplies are tight, put petals toward utility and armor first. Decorative projects can wait until the Picnic Table loop has become part of your regular gathering route.

Use the Statue area as your later-game petal farm

The major alternative is the Statue area on the eastern side of the map. It has more Flower Petal potential, but it becomes practical later in progression, particularly around the Networking story quest. Treat it as an upgrade to the Picnic Table route rather than a replacement for it at the start of a save.

Rideable buggies make the longer trip through Brookhaven Park less tedious once you have access to them. They improve travel speed and offer some protection while moving through dangerous territory, though their protection has limits. Avoid treating a buggy as permission to ignore every threat near a flower patch.

What to do when Flower Petals do not respawn

Flower Petals do not always return immediately after you clear an area. Waiting beside the Picnic Table is the slowest response. Finish the full route, gather nearby resources for your next craft, progress through another objective, then return later to check the Hosta Plants and loose-petal spots again.

Think of the Picnic Table as a circuit rather than a single farming node. The route works because it combines ground drops, harvested plants, the cloth climb, the tabletop, and the under-table search. If the first sweep looks thin, keep moving through Brookhaven Park instead of assuming the location has stopped producing petals.

Stay alert around the table

The Picnic Table is excellent for early petals, but its food crumbs and cramped terrain can attract hostile creatures. The danger is usually worst when you are focused on the ground and get boxed into clutter beneath the table. Keep a weapon ready, collect the exposed drops first, and avoid pushing deep into a messy under-table fight when your only goal is a handful of petals.

If the area feels too dangerous for your current gear, take the easy petals around the edges and leave the more crowded spots for a later run. Flower Petals are important, but losing a long resource haul over one plant is poor value.

Best Flower Petal farming plan

For early progression, run the Picnic Table from Snackbar Front, collect loose purple petals, harvest every nearby Hosta Plant, climb the tablecloth, and finish with the south-side and under-table sweep. Return after exploring elsewhere rather than waiting for respawns. Once the Networking quest opens the eastern Statue area, add it to your longer resource runs for a bigger Flower Petal supply.

Grounded 2 is still evolving in early access, so revisit the in-game map and your usual petal stops after updates. Until then, the Picnic Table remains the cleanest answer for crafting Dew Collectors, progressing toward Ladybug armor, and building a useful reserve of Flower Petals without turning the search into a full-map expedition.
