GTA 6 tribunal lays bare Rockstar’s extreme anti-leak security measures

A drone pointed at an office window is a very different kind of GTA 6 leak risk than a misplaced screenshot. Rockstar says it responded by fitting privacy film to its buildings after attempts to photograph through the glass, a striking detail from its Glasgow Employment Tribunal case that shows how far the studio’s security concerns now extend beyond company networks.

Rockstar described its approach as the “security posture of a Wall Street bank,” with no-photography rules, bans on USB storage devices, and tighter limits on remote work. The company also said it maintains a five-person investigation team and director focused on possible leaks. Contractors were escorted by security, while personal laptops, phones, and tablets could not connect to Rockstar systems.

The studio said its systems face regular attacks and that a hacking group attempted to blackmail it shortly before the September hearing, referencing the earlier CyberLeek breach. Rockstar put the financial stakes in blunt terms: it said Take-Two lost US$2 billion in share value within days of a recent hack becoming public. That is why in-progress gameplay, design documents, internal tools, and even visibility inside offices are being treated as sensitive assets.

The security testimony sits inside a labor dispute over dismissals. Rockstar says 34 workers — 31 in the UK and three in Canada — were fired for gross misconduct involving confidential information shared through an insecure public social channel, not for union activity. The IWGB contests that account, framing the dismissals as retaliation; it has also alleged some staff were informed in phone calls lasting about two minutes before their work accounts were locked.

An internal discussion of a possible 32-player online format also surfaced in coverage of the case, but it is not confirmation of GTA 6’s final launch design. The tribunal’s final hearing phase was expected to run through mid-October. Watch for any public ruling or filings that clarify the dismissals — not unofficial GTA 6 “leaks” claiming to settle the game’s features.
