All three escape endings are selected in Chapter 5: Into the Shadows by the direction you take through Haddonfield. Commit early: go north, then west for the Sewer; start left/west for the Railroad; or go right and slightly north for the Cornfield. Once the matching escape prompt appears, keep following that route instead of returning to the centre of the map.
Halloween: The Game has six Story Mode chapters, and Chapter 5 is the only chapter you need to replay for these three exits. You can only finish one escape route per run, so use chapter select to reload Chapter 5 twice after your first completion.
Table of Contents (9)
Escape Ending Routes at a Glance
| Escape ending | Starting direction | Final trigger | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sewer | North, then west, then north | Pry open the sewer entrance behind the fenced area | Dense police groups near the final approach |
| Railroad / Train Tracks | West/left first, then north; move northeast after the objective appears | Reach the red lights, wait for the train to clear, then cross | A countdown of only a few seconds before the train arrives |
| Cornfield | Immediate right, then slightly north | Enter the rows of corn | Accidentally drifting back toward the central streets |
The three routes give Michael Myers different ways to leave Haddonfield, but the post-escape story scene is shared. Choose an exit to complete the route you want to see or record; do not expect a different campaign outcome after the cutscene.
How to Get the Sewer Ending
The Sewer route is the safest choice if you would rather deal with police patrols than a hard train timer. Its key landmark is a fenced wall with two officers outside it. The sewer hatch is not directly in front of those officers: you need to slip past the barrier and turn left behind it.
- From the Chapter 5 starting area, move straight north.
- Take down or bypass the officers blocking the route, keeping your movement focused north until the escape notification appears.
- Wait for the on-screen objective telling you to escape through the sewer.
- Move west a short distance, then turn north again along the available path.
- Continue through the patrols until you reach the fenced-off wall and the police outside it.
- Get around the officers, go left behind the barrier, and locate the sewer entrance.
- Use the pry open interaction on the hatch to trigger the Sewer escape cutscene.
Handling the police near the sewer
The final northbound stretch has several close patrols, so clearing every officer is usually slower and riskier than creating a gap. Approach from behind where the alleys allow it. If two officers are close enough for their torchlight to overlap, use Blackout to disable both torches and create a much cleaner takedown window.

Keep an eye on completion after this route. A Sewer escape can play correctly while Chapter 5 progress fails to appear in the main menu. If that happens, reload Chapter 5 and complete the route again before moving on to your next ending attempt.
How to Get the Railroad Ending
The Railroad ending is the most timing-sensitive route. Start on the left side of the map to activate the tracks objective, then be ready to cut across toward the northeast when the route sends you to the crossing. The red signal lights are the landmark that matters.
- At the start of Chapter 5, work west/left instead of heading straight north.
- Clear only the officers that physically block the left-side streets. Avoid long fights.
- Continue north from the west side until the game displays the Escape From Tracks objective.
- Once the objective is active, move toward the north-right/northeast side of the area where the tracks are located.
- Look for the crossing’s red lights. A warning that the train arrives in a few seconds signals that the timer has started.
- Reach the red lights before the countdown expires.
- Wait for the train to pass fully. When the crossing becomes passable, cross the tracks to start the Railroad escape cutscene.
Do not cross while the train is moving
Reaching the red lights is only the first half of the Railroad trigger. Stay at the crossing until the train has cleared and the barrier state changes. Trying to force your way across during the train sequence does not finish the ending. Arriving after the short timer expires cancels this escape attempt, leaving you to take another exit or restart Chapter 5.
Staying left early also reduces the chance of Dr. Loomis spotting Michael. That matters because a chase can consume the few seconds you need to reach the tracks once the train warning appears.

How to Get the Cornfield Ending
The Cornfield route is the fastest and cleanest escape when you choose it immediately. From the start of Chapter 5, head right and slightly north, then keep pushing toward the right-side field. The corn itself is the destination; there is no hatch, lever, or separate interaction prompt to use at the end.
- Start Chapter 5 and move right immediately.
- Angle slightly north while remaining in the right-side lanes.
- Wait for the objective telling you to escape through the fields.
- Keep moving right rather than returning to the middle streets.
- Use stealth or fast takedowns only on officers blocking the path.
- Enter the cornfield rows to trigger the Cornfield escape cutscene.
Why Cornfield attempts go wrong
The Cornfield route is sensitive to indecisive movement. If you start right, then wander back toward the centre to fight police or look for another objective, you can pull the run toward the Sewer or Railroad trigger zones instead. Treat the first right turn as your route commitment and keep moving until the field prompt appears.
How to Unlock All Three in One Save
- Complete Chapter 5 once using any escape route.
- Return to Story Mode and use chapter select to reload Chapter 5: Into the Shadows.
- Choose one of the two remaining directions immediately from the starting area.
- Finish that escape, then replay Chapter 5 one final time for the last route.
- Check the main menu after the Sewer ending in case the known progress-recording issue affects that completion.
What to Do If the Wrong Escape Prompt Appears
The escape routes are driven by Michael’s movement history and the sector you enter, not by a random ending roll at the start of Chapter 5. If the wrong objective appears before you are committed, reload the chapter and take the desired opening direction more cleanly:
- Sewer prompt missing: push farther north before turning west. Heading north too cautiously can delay the sewer trigger.
- Tracks prompt missing: spend more time on the west/left side first, then go north before cutting toward the northeast tracks.
- Cornfield prompt missing: restart and go right with a slight northward angle immediately; avoid returning to central streets.
- Railroad timer expired: do not waste time clearing optional patrols. Reach the red lights first, then wait for the train to clear.
- Sewer completion did not save: replay Chapter 5 and complete the hatch interaction again before relying on the ending being registered.
On the current PC route structure, the reliable checklist is simple: north-west-north for the Sewer hatch, left then northeast for the red-light crossing, or immediate right into the corn. Reloading Chapter 5 twice is enough to see all three escape routes.
