Hell Let Loose: Vietnam’s Crossplay Test Adds Đắk Tô, but Nothing Carries Over

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam’s free crossplay playtest runs July 24-27, bringing PC and console players onto the new Đắk Tô Airfield map while all test progress resets afterward.

This is a matchmaking test as much as a combat preview. By putting PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S players into the same pool, Expression Games can test whether Hell Let Loose: Vietnam’s large-scale Vietnam War battles hold together under cross-platform population and communication demands.

The free playtest begins Friday, July 24 at 6:00 AM PDT / 9:00 AM EDT / 2:00 PM BST / 3:00 PM CEST and ends at the same times on Monday, July 27. On Steam, players can join by visiting the Hell Let Loose: Vietnam store page and selecting “request access” once the test is live. Console access is available during the same crossplay window.

Đắk Tô Airfield is the key new battleground

The test centers on Đắk Tô Airfield, a new map built around a strategically important airfield setting. It gives players an early look at the game’s combat pacing, visuals, performance, and faction warfare between forces including the North Vietnamese Army. The preview also provides a practical check on the systems that will shape regular matches, from squad coordination to Field Supplies and the pressure of holding ground across a large battlefield.

Players should treat the weekend as a test, not a progression head start. Progress earned during the playtest will reset, so time spent unlocking or advancing is useful for learning the build rather than building a lasting account. That matters most for players planning to grind through the short event: test weapons, roles, maps, and crossplay squads, but do not expect those gains to carry into the final release.

The build also has preview-stage rough edges, including technical and voice-chat issues, while Accessibility options are absent. Those gaps make this weekend valuable feedback territory, particularly because reliable communication is central to Hell Let Loose’s team-based format.

Watch whether Expression Games addresses crossplay communication, accessibility, and the test’s reset-related limitations before launch, alongside details on editions and cosmetic packs such as the NVA Boat Crew Uniform and Navy SEALs Uniform Pack.
