Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience and with the epic return of…

Platform: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox OneRelease: 10/25/2024
Mode: Single player, Multiplayer

Reckoning’s main music Easter egg is “Remember Us” by Kevin Sherwood featuring Elena Siegman, and it is one of the least fiddly song eggs Treyarch has ever shipped. There is no dial, no sequence, no round requirement. You find three pairs of Mr. Peeks headphones – blue, with fuzzy bunny-ear pads – interact with each one, and the track fires automatically on the third. You can do them in any order, and you do not need power, Pack-a-Punch or quest progress.

The three spawns are static: T1 Mutant Research Lab, T2 Dark Entity Containment under the Forsaken cube, and the T1 Director’s Office inside the Executive Suite. Full pathing below, plus the one thing that has changed in 2026 – how you launch Black Ops 6 at all.

First: Black Ops 6 left Call of Duty HQ

If you went looking for Reckoning recently and could not find Black Ops 6 in the launcher, nothing is broken and nothing has been delisted. On 7 July 2026 at 9am PT, Activision moved Black Ops 6 out of the Call of Duty HQ install and made it a standalone download. Legacy BO6 files inside the HQ install were removed automatically to free up storage, which is what people experienced as the game “disappearing”.

What that means practically:

  • Redownload Black Ops 6 as its own title from your platform store – Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox, Battle.net.
  • You launch it directly. HQ is no longer in the chain.
  • Progression, unlocks and purchases are tied to your Activision ID and carry across to the standalone client.
  • Zombies is intact, Reckoning included. The removal applied to HQ-side files, not to entitlements or live services.

Reckoning arrived as the Season 5 map in August 2025 and was still in the active rotation through Season 06’s Haunted Havoc LTM, which listed it among the six maps included. BO6 Zombies has shifted from a new-map pipeline to LTMs, event modes and fixes since Black Ops 7 launched, but it is online and playable.

What you need before you start

  • Access to Reckoning (Season 5 DLC map, standalone Black Ops 6 client)
  • Interact button – Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, F on PC
  • Enough points to open the doors toward Dark Entity Containment, which is the deepest of the three
  • Nothing else. No perks, no Pack-a-Punch, no minimum round

Rounds 6–12 are the sweet spot – crowds are still manageable, and you have enough points to buy your way to the third location without fighting for every door. Bumping your display contrast genuinely helps; the headphones glow blue but two of the three sit in dark corners.

The three Mr. Peeks headphones, located precisely

1. T1 Mutant Research Lab

Head for the central computer room in the Mutant Research Lab, near the cryo chambers. Your landmark is a corpse leaning against the wall by the door through to the Mutant Research Test Area, at the eastern end of the room, next to the cryo chamber holding an Elder Disciple. The headphones are on the floor beside the body – some guides describe them as in the dead scientist’s hand, and depending on your angle that is exactly what it looks like.

Clear the immediate area first. The interact prompt only appears at close range and you do not want to be reading it while a Disciple winds up behind you.

2. T2 Dark Entity Containment (under the Forsaken cube)

This is the one that costs you points. Progress through to Android Assembly – the Anti-Grav Personal Launcher / portal route is the fastest – then take the elevator down to Dark Entity Containment. Once there, go downstairs, underneath the large Forsaken containment cube, into the lower control room lined with computer terminals.

In the corner you will find a scientist corpse sitting in a chair at the computers. The Mr. Peeks headphones are on his head, or around his neck depending on how the body has settled. Look directly at them until the prompt appears.

Do this one second, not last. It is the furthest from spawn and the most awkward to reach if the round has escalated.

3. T1 Director’s Office (Executive Suite)

Move into the Executive Suite and through to the Director’s Office. Go to the back-right corner, behind the desk, and look at the bottom section of the bookshelf or cupboard. The headphones are inside a lower drawer or on the bottom shelf, often behind a partially open cabinet door. You will usually need to crouch and look in rather than at.

This is the one people walk past repeatedly. The glow is largely hidden by the cabinet door, so if you are scanning at standing eye level you will never see it.

Triggering the track

Interact with the third pair and “Remember Us” starts immediately. There is no confirmation step, no additional item, and no requirement to survive a wave first. The song plays over the map once per match, so if you care about the moment, plan the third pickup rather than stumbling into it – a natural break before a boss wave or a high-round push is the usual choice.

Order genuinely does not matter, which is what makes this good for co-op: split the three locations across three players, call out your pickups, and whoever grabs theirs last triggers it for everyone.

Troubleshooting

  • No prompt showing? Step back and re-approach slowly. All three are close-range interacts and two are partially occluded – by the corpse in Mutant Research, by the cabinet door in the Director’s Office.
  • Cannot see the glow? Crouch and change your angle before assuming you are in the wrong room. Nothing here spawns randomly, so if you are in the right place it is there.
  • Too many zombies to interact? Barrier traps, Monkey Bombs or stuns. Interacting mid-swarm is how most people lose a run to a three-minute Easter egg.
  • Locked out of Dark Entity Containment? That is a points problem, not a bug. Buy doors early and skip the mystery box until all three are collected.
  • Game will not launch at all? Redownload the standalone BO6 client – see the section above.

The other Reckoning song

Worth knowing so you do not conflate the two: Reckoning also hides “Samantha’s Peace”, triggered by the Metal Detector Easter egg in Janus Reception. That one is a proper pattern puzzle – a 12-step sequence (1-3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2) run through the powered metal detectors – and it is entirely separate from the headphones. Doing one does not lock out the other, and plenty of guides muddle them because both are “the Reckoning song”.

Has any of it changed in a patch?

No. Every current source – GameSpot, Gameranx, PCGamesN and the Call of Duty Wiki – documents the same three static locations and the same one-interact-each trigger, with no added prerequisites and no relocated spawns. There is no pre-patch / post-patch variant to worry about. The only thing that has genuinely changed since launch is how you get into the game.

FAQ

Does the order of the three headphones matter?

No. Any order works and the song fires on whichever you pick up third.

Do I need Pack-a-Punch, power, or a specific round?

None of them. The only practical requirement is enough points to open doors toward Dark Entity Containment.

Can I do it solo?

Yes. Rounds 6–12 solo is comfortable – it is roughly a ten-minute detour, or half that with a squad splitting the locations.

Is Black Ops 6 Zombies still supported in 2026?

It is online and playable as a standalone game, with Reckoning still in rotation, but the content cadence has moved from new story maps to LTMs and fixes. Reckoning remains the last core map.

Where to go next

Once the anthem is running, the rest of Reckoning’s collectible work is worth the same trip. The Black Ops 6 hub tracks the map’s remaining secrets, and our guide to unlocking Serialized Gilded Ruin covers the unlock chase on the same client. If you have already moved across, Black Ops 7 Zombies turning a jeep into a Wonder Weapon is where the mode’s design energy went after Reckoning.
