KILLER INN
A corpse has been found... and everyone is a suspect. You have been chosen to participate in a one-night-only game of death, deceit, and deduction. Will you be…
Let’s be real: “social deduction” games have been riding high ever since Among Us blew up. Knockoffs abound, and I’ve rolled my eyes more than once. So when Square Enix teamed with Canada’s Tactic Studios on Killer Inn—a Clue-meets-Werewolf party game entering closed beta this July—I braced for mediocrity. Surprisingly, though, there’s enough promise here to keep me intrigued… if not entirely off guard.
Killer Inn blends classic clue-hunting with brief bursts of real-time action. You dash through shadowy hallways, sift through drawers for evidence, and stash tools—then gather with fellow guests to accuse someone of being the murderer. Rather than feeling like chaos, Tactic Studios teases real investigative depth: choosing which clues to present and when to spend in-game currency can mean the difference between survival and a sudden, grisly end.
The exclusive three-day beta runs on Steam from July 26 at 10 a.m. PT to July 28 at 10 p.m. PT. During this window, Square Enix and Tactic Studios will stress-test servers, matchmaking, and core loops. To secure your spot:

Official system requirements haven’t been published, but a mid-range PC from the last few years should handle the beta just fine.

Square Enix’s track record with indie collaborations is hit-or-miss: some games soar, others fade without a trace. Partnering with Tactic Studios brings fresh ideas but also higher expectations. If Killer Inn lives up to its investigative promise and nail-biting duels, it could revitalize the genre. A bumpy beta, however, might put the brakes on goodwill before launch.
Jump straight into clue-hunting: focus on evidence that cuts down your suspect list rather than chasing every shred. Manage your currency wisely—invest in a game-changing tool rather than safe, early upgrades. In social phases, watch body language and movement patterns for tells. And don’t sleep on the skirmishes: mastering quick defenses builds trust and makes you harder to vote out.

Killer Inn mixes methodical deduction, adrenaline-fueled showdowns, and a light economy. The Steam beta runs July 26–28—perfect for testers, critics, and conspiracy theorists alike. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you when the killer strikes.
