In a 24-player hidden-role match, an early death used to mean losing both your gear and your ability to help solve the case. Patch 0.9.5 changes that equation: eliminated Killer Inn players now enter Ghost mode, remain involved in the match, and can return once after a set period while retaining their XP and gold.
That makes a kill less final for the wolf team and gives the sheep team more ways to preserve a crucial deduction. Ghosts can gather evidence, communicate with other ghosts, send hints to allies, and otherwise interfere with the ongoing round before using their single Revive. Expect more aggressive early scouting and riskier attempts to secure clues, since one bad encounter is no longer an automatic full-match exit. Conversely, players hunting investigators will need to account for information surviving beyond the initial takedown.

The update also introduces two investigator characters built around the game’s evidence-driven tension. Psychometrist can examine a corpse to track the player responsible for the kill, giving teams a direct lead after a murder. Journalist reveals the locations of all items and players on the map, a powerful tool for reconstructing movement, monitoring suspicious routes, and coordinating a pursuit. Both additions should be most valuable to groups that share sightings and evidence quickly rather than treating every fight as a standalone duel.

Those systems fit Killer Inn’s core setup: wolves secretly hunt the larger sheep team inside a castle, while sheep collect physical evidence such as hair, fingerprints, and fabric scraps to identify them — or gather keys and escape by boat. Unlike a discussion-and-voting social deduction game, its rounds play as fast PvP encounters with weapons, armor, and traps, so the new respawn rule is a structural match-flow change rather than a small balance adjustment.

For Steam Early Access players deciding whether to return, the 75% sale cuts the price to 300 yen, tax included, through August 21; the key test is whether Ghost mode makes defeats feel like a second phase of play rather than downtime.
