League of Legends: How to Watch Worlds 2026 – Times and Format

FinalBoss6 min read
Worlds 2026 runs from October 15 to November 14 in North America, with 19 teams competing across Play-In, Swiss and knockout stages. Official English broadcasts are available through LoL Esports, Twitch and YouTube, with different viewing schedules for each phase.

Worlds’ North American route takes the championship from Los Angeles to Allen, Texas, before the final at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. For viewers, the important distinction is between stages: Play-In uses best-of-five series throughout, Swiss mixes short matches with longer qualification deciders, and the knockouts return to best-of-fives. Watch the official English coverage through LoL Esports or Riot Games’ Twitch and YouTube channels.

Worlds 2026 schedule and venues

The tournament has three phases. The Play-In winner joins 15 directly qualified teams for Swiss, which reduces the field to eight teams for the single-elimination bracket.

StageDatesLocationCompetition structure
Play-InOctober 15-18Riot Games Arena, Los AngelesFour teams; double elimination; best-of-five series; one team advances
SwissOctober 23-31Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen, Texas16 teams; three wins advance, three losses eliminate
KnockoutsNovember 3-14Allen, then Barclays Center, Brooklyn, for the finalEight teams; single elimination; best-of-five series

The semifinals take place on Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, with one series each day. The championship final is on Saturday, November 14.

Start times in North America and mainland Spain

Play-In begins at 11 a.m. Pacific / 2 p.m. Eastern. Do not carry that start time across the entire tournament: Swiss schedules vary by matchday, and the semifinals have a later start.

MatchdayPacific TimeEastern TimeSpanish peninsular time
Play-In, October 15–1811 a.m. PDT2 p.m. EDT8 p.m. CEST
Semifinals, November 7 and 82 p.m. PST5 p.m. EST11 p.m. CET
Final, November 1411 a.m. PST2 p.m. EST8 p.m. CET

The daylight-saving change matters during Swiss. Mainland Spain changes clocks on October 25, while the United States changes on November 1. From October 25–31, Spanish peninsular time is eight hours ahead of Pacific Time and five hours ahead of Eastern Time. Outside that interval during Worlds, the difference is nine and six hours respectively.

Use the individual matchday listing in the LoL Esports schedule for Swiss start times. Applying the opening weekend’s time difference to the entire Swiss stage can put a Spanish viewing reminder an hour out.

How Play-In works: four teams, one qualifying place

Play-In uses a four-team, double-elimination bracket, with every series played as a best-of-five. The opening matchups are drawn randomly, and only the bracket winner reaches Swiss.

A first series loss sends a team into the lower bracket; a second eliminates it. That makes the lower-bracket matches particularly consequential, even before the final qualifying series.

Keep games and series separate when reading the bracket. Winning three games takes a best-of-five series, but reaching Swiss requires winning the Play-In bracket. A single series victory does not secure the qualifying place.

How Swiss works: follow the record, then check the match length

Swiss begins on October 23 with 16 teams. Each team plays between three and five rounds: three match wins secure a knockout place, while three match losses end its tournament. A team stops playing Swiss matches as soon as it reaches either threshold.

Most Swiss matches are best-of-one. Any match that can qualify or eliminate a team becomes a best-of-three, so later rounds can require a substantially longer viewing commitment than the opening matches.

  • A team with two wins: its next match can secure qualification, so that match is best-of-three.
  • A team with two losses: its next match can eliminate it, so that match is also best-of-three.
  • A 2–2 matchup: the winner advances and the loser goes out, making it a best-of-three with both outcomes at stake.

The standings count match victories, not individual games within a series. A 2–1 best-of-three victory adds one win to the team’s Swiss record. Likewise, losing an opening best-of-one leaves a team at 0–1; it does not eliminate it.

Knockouts: every series is best-of-five

The eight Swiss qualifiers enter a single-elimination bracket. Quarterfinals, semifinals and the final are all best-of-five: three game wins take the series, and one series defeat ends the tournament.

This is the stage to reserve a longer viewing window. A series can finish in three games or extend to five, so the scheduled start is useful for planning, while the finish depends on the results. Each semifinal has its own day; there is no second semifinal immediately afterward.

Which teams are competing?

North America’s representatives are Team Liquid Alienware, LYON and Cloud9 Kia. The 19-team field also includes representatives from Korea, China, the LEC, the Pacific region and Brazil.

For a team’s next opponent, follow the active event bracket rather than its original qualification listing. The distinction matters most around the Play-In transition: four teams contest that stage, but only its winner joins the 15 direct entrants in Swiss.

Where to watch Worlds 2026 in North America

The official English broadcast is available through LoL Esports, Riot Games’ Twitch channels and Riot Games’ YouTube channels. The LoL Esports event schedule brings the fixtures and broadcast destinations together, making it the most direct starting point when switching between stages.

For creator-led coverage, use Riot’s Worlds co-streaming hub to select an authorized broadcast in your preferred language. Check the event roster rather than assuming that a creator’s regular League of Legends coverage includes permission to broadcast Worlds matches.

Before settling on a co-stream, check that channel’s coverage for the specific series you want. Authorization and a creator’s own broadcast schedule are separate considerations.
