The useful part is simple. The irritating part is that the clock changes by platform and region, while Nintendo Switch 2 buyers are operating on an entirely separate schedule.

Deluxe early access begins three days before full launch

The full release for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is May 22, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Deluxe Edition access begins on May 19, giving owners a 72-hour head start through Gotham.

Console releases follow local-midnight timing. That means the full launch reaches players in New York at 12:00 AM EDT on May 22, while players on the US West Coast can begin at 9:00 PM PDT on May 21. The Deluxe unlock follows the same pattern: 12:00 AM EDT on May 19, or 9:00 PM PDT on May 18.

PC timing can vary from the console-local-midnight approach, so Steam players should check the store countdown rather than assuming their unlock matches a PlayStation or Xbox owner in the same city. Launch-day access systems have an embarrassing habit of treating a paid head start as a small technical experiment.

The Deluxe edition is selling access first, content second

The Dark Knight Deluxe Edition includes early access on the platforms launching in May, along with the Legacy Collection and Mayhem Collection DLC. The latter connects to the planned Mayhem Mode content, giving the higher-priced version an incentive beyond opening the game a few days earlier.

That matters because the base game already carries the substantial part of the pitch: TT Games’ open-world LEGO action-adventure take on Gotham City, with the Caped Crusader, Harley Quinn, and the usual Batman-scale rogue’s-gallery chaos translated into plastic bricks and broad physical comedy. Deluxe buyers are paying for timing and future add-ons, not access to a fundamentally different launch game.

The Switch 2 Deluxe package includes the Legacy Collection and Mayhem Collection DLC, but it does not include early access. That removes the main short-term reason to upgrade on Nintendo’s platform. The extra $20 buys the content bundle, while every Switch 2 player waits for the same September release date.

What to watch at full launch

The practical checkpoint is May 22: whether PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S players can enter cleanly at their scheduled unlock times. The relevant purchase decision is equally plain. Buy Deluxe for the DLC collections and the three-day head start; buy Standard if starting on launch day is sufficient. Switch 2 owners should make that decision based solely on the DLC, because the early-access window does not exist there.
