LEGO Super Mario’s 2027 Sets Finally Put Minifigures at the Center
The key change is compatibility in scale and style: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser now belong in conventional brick-built scenes rather than being represented chiefly by the larger electronic character figures used in earlier LEGO Super Mario courses. The eight-set January 1, 2027 range spans quick impulse builds, home locations, kart races and a substantial castle display-playset.
The entry points and mid-range sets
Mario’s Pipe Jump (72052) is the lowest-cost starting point at 61 pieces and $9.99 / £8.99. It includes a large green warp pipe, coins, a Mario minifigure and a lever mechanism that catapults a Goomba. Mario Kart: Racing with Mario (72054), priced at $14.99 / £12.99, adds Mario’s kart plus green and red shells and a banana.
For builders who want recognisable locations rather than racing, Mario’s Beach Adventures (72055) costs $19.99 / £17.99 and gives Surfing Mario a snack bar, surfboard and lounger. Yoshi at Mario’s House (72057) moves up to 147 pieces for $39.99 / £34.99. The minifigure focus makes these sets a more direct fit alongside standard LEGO city, fantasy or Nintendo displays.

Mario Kart and Bowser lead the premium end
Mario Kart: Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Karts (72056) has 104 pieces and costs $29.99, while Mario Kart: Bowser’s Rumbling Race (72058) reaches 409 pieces at $59.99 / £54.99. Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle (72061), at 241 pieces and $29.99 / £26.99, uses a cannon to launch Fire Luigi at a tower and hides a Fire Flower in its question blocks.
The centerpiece is Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle (72060): 850 pieces for $99.99 / £89.99. Its 36cm-wide castle includes Fire Mario, Peach and Koopa Troopa minifigures, a Bowser big figure, Goomba, lava balls, traps and a concealed coin chest. Its listed name and set number distinguish it from the separately sold Mario Kart – Bowser’s Castle (72039).
