The practical change is simple: event-quest rewards and material farming will no longer depend on being connected when players want to hunt. Ver. 1.042 turns the full 26-quest event pool into offline-capable content, removing a major barrier for players with unreliable connections or limited time.
The update is scheduled for August 4 at 11:30 JST, following maintenance from 8:50 to 11:30 JST. It includes the event and challenge quests that previously required an online connection, plus a formerly limited event quest that is becoming permanent. This is not a single featured quest being preserved: the key number is 26, covering the complete event-quest set cited in the update announcement.
That gives returning hunters a more flexible route to missed rewards, repeatable materials, and unfinished challenges. The exact menu structure has not been detailed, but the player-facing result is clear: after installing 1.042, those quests can be accepted and completed offline.

An early-game experience demo follows on August 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Its save data can transfer into the full game, so new players will not need to restart if they decide to continue. Capcom has not yet specified precisely which progress elements, items, or rewards transfer, beyond support for the save file itself.
Version 1.042 also brings bug fixes and stability or performance adjustments. PC players should allow roughly 3.5GB for the patch, or about 5.5GB with Steam’s High Resolution Texture Pack installed. After updating, check a cold launch, load an existing save, confirm the texture pack is recognized, and test that event quests can launch while offline. Shader and cache rebuilding may also affect early post-patch performance.
Watch for the full demo details and patch notes, particularly the exact save-transfer rules and complete fix list.
