Upcoming murder mystery platformer, Omensight, is slated for a spring/summer release on both PS4 and Steam. The game premiered to a positive audience at PAX East, with its incandescent cel-shaded aesthetics and gameplay similar to the newer instalments in the Legend of Zelda series.

As the Harbinger, players must take on the role of a skilled warrior sent to avert the impending apocalypse, solve a murder, and rewrite doomsday. All in a days work right? A beguiling cast of anthropomorphic characters, a promising gameplay mechanic and a fluid combat system, Omensight has piqued our curiosity here at Final Boss, and this could well be one of the more promising platforming releases this year.

Time manipulation is the core focus of the game, integral to both gameplay and narrative, with multiple endings depending on you’re choices. Combat is mainly sword and spells based, with time slowing at your disposal and a plethora of other abilities to eliminate threats. The game places you in the final moments of the visually striking world of Urralia. Stuck in a Groundhog day type situation repeating the same day in time loops you must gather information in each loop to aid in the aversion of the impending apocalypse.

Using the ‘Omensight’ mechanic, you’ll need to broadcast said information to characters, to influence them and consequently impact the story, while also gauging the trustworthiness of the eclectic set of characters that you will encounter along the way. Each character has their own idiosyncrasies and agendas. Ally with a song-slinging bard or a beer-swilling bear? It’s one of the many decisions that will impact the narrative.

Omensight has taken on significant talent to lend their voices to the game, Patricia Summersett (The Legend of Zelda’s: Breath of The Wild) and Julian Casey (We Happy Few) among the stellar group of voice actors. The tale of time has been penned by notable industry names, with Nadim Boukhira (Stories: The Path of Destinies) and Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion), with Chris Avellone (Fallout: New Vegas, Prey) assisting with the script.

At Final Boss, we can’t wait to get our hands on this! Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming preview of the game, before it releases on May 15th and before then check out the trailer below.
