Guide
After spending 100+ hours battling every boss in Palworld, I know firsthand how overwhelming these fights can be-especially if you jump in underleveled or with a badly-matched team. I lost entire base-building sessions because I underestimated a Tower Boss, and wasted time roaming for Alpha Pals before I understood their patterns. Here’s my hard-earned, mistake-tested guide for tackling all main bosses in order, optimizing your squad, and getting the most out of every encounter-without burning hours in frustrating wipes.
What This Guide Covers (and Why You Need It)
This guide walks you through the exact order of Palworld’s main Tower Bosses, with boss-specific strategies, type counters, and recommended gear from my own clears. I’ll also explain how and when to hunt Alpha Pal bosses, key mistakes to avoid (like showing up for Faleris with all Fire Pals-yep, I did that), and how to turn each victory into meaningful progression. Expect clear, step-by-step advice, time-saving tips, and practical context for every recommendation.
Prerequisites: What to Prepare Before Boss Battles
Pal Team Level: Match your highest Pal’s level to the boss’s recommended level, or a bit higher. Underleveled teams get wiped—hard.
Elemental Coverage: Bring at least two Pals that counter the boss’s type.
Gear Up: Equip the best armor you can craft (Heat/Cold Resistant, Plasteel, or Hexolite based on the boss location). Bring medkits, Meat, and bullets. Don’t skip this—better to overprepare than be stunned and lose hard-earned loot.
Ammo & Repair Kits: I always bring more than I expect to burn; running out mid-fight is embarrassing and costly.
Building Materials: Have enough resources on hand to improve your base with rewards after boss clears.
Experienced tip: Add a lifesteal or healing Pal to every boss-run team (e.g., a Relaxasaurus with the right skills can literally save your run).
All Palworld Tower Bosses in Order (with Proven Strategies)
Zoe & Grizzbolt – Rayne Syndicate’s Tower (112, -434) Requirements: 30,000 damage in 10 min | Recommended Level: ~15-20
Type: Electric
Bring: 2× Ground-type Pals (Gumoss, Fuddler) for super-effective damage
Strategy: Grizzbolt prefers melee; keep pillars between you and it. Use your Pal to draw aggro, then circle behind and deal melee damage (club/spear works if you’re ballsy). Watch for the triple ground slam, and dodge in quick succession. Duck behind cover when Zoe lines up her laser—never leave this to chance!
What Not To Do: Don’t bring Water types (rookie mistake I made); they get roasted by Electric attacks. Don’t try to tank with light armor—his AoE will melt you.
Success Sign: Grizzbolt’s health drops fast with Ground moves or club headshots. Free Tech points await.
Lily & Lyleen – Free Pal Alliance Tower (185, 28) Requirements: 69,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 20-30
Type: Grass
Bring: Fire-type Pals (Vanwyrm is MVP here)
Strategy: Mount Vanwyrm for mobility and manual aiming. Stay at range and focus headshots. Watch for poison clouds and avoid lining up for hurricane/seed grenades.
— Don’t get greedy: every time I rushed, I got caught by a bubble or homing missile!
What Not To Do: Don’t forget to heal your mount—if it drops, you’ll get swarmed. Melee isn’t safe—stick to ranged if possible.
Efficiency Tip: Use Vanwyrm’s flight to bait Lyleen’s AoEs, then swoop in for a hit.
Axel & Orserk – Brothers of the Eternal Pyre Tower (-588, -518) Requirements: 130,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 30-40
Type: Electric/Dragon
Bring: Ice (best) or Ground types
Strategy: Spam Ice attacks for freeze procs—these will literally save your life and give time to heal. Orserk’s thunder trident and tracking poison cloud punish static players, so keep circling the arena and use pillars. Don’t stand in front or you’ll eat Draconic Breath.
Common Pitfall: I wasted medkits standing in AoE zones; instead, move as soon as the wind-up starts. Long-range weapons shine here—don’t try to brawl close-range.
Upgrade Alert: You’ll want at least tier 2 armor by now, or you won’t survive his burst.
Marcus & Faleris – PIDF Tower (561, 334) Requirements: 147,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 40-45
Type: Fire
Bring: Water-type Pals, Heat Resistant Armor
Strategy: All attacks are projectile or AoE fire. Use pillars for cover and keep your Water Pals alive—they’ll draw aggro and survive longer. Inflict Poison DoT for slow, steady damage.
Don’t Make My Mistake: Faleris spends nearly the whole fight airborne! If you bring only melee Pals or try shooting from the ground, you’ll constantly whiff. Flyers or ranged Pals/gear are a must.
Bonus: Prioritize dodging the Shock status from his thunderbolt—remedy or swap partners if stunned.
Victor & Shadowbeak – PAL Genetic Research Tower (-149, 445) Requirements: 200,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 45-50+
Strategy: Rotate behind pillars for every Shadowbeak beam/ice attack—his homing orbs are brutal if you try to face tank. Use Rocket Launcher for burst, but aim carefully (ammo’s expensive). Lifesteal Pals will keep you and your team alive during chip-damage barrages, but don’t get greedy for headshots.
Why This Boss Sucks (If Unprepared): If you’re underleveled, you’ll take so much chip damage you’ll run out of meds. Don’t do what I did: when it’s not working, back out and grind or upgrade weapons and come back stronger.
Checkpoint: If you’re surviving at least 7 minutes, you’re on pace—if not, it’s worth retreating and retooling.
Saya & Selyne – Moonflower Tower (-595, 204) Requirements: 261,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 55+
Type: Dark
Bring: High-level Dragon-types (Jetragon, Jormuntide), Plasteel Armor, Ultra Shield, Ring of Dark Resistance +2
Strategy: Most attacks are AoE or homing—move constantly and let Pals tank. Watch the floor for the telltale circle of light before big attacks. When Selyne starts charging Moonlight Beam, get behind a pillar ASAP—getting hit is often a one-shot, even with max armor.
Advanced Tip: Gatling Gun or Rocket Launcher is key for big damage. Prioritize survival over min/maxing DPS—a few missed shots are better than dying.
Teamwork Tip: If you’re playing co-op, split aggro if possible—this makes Selyne manageable.
Bjorn & Bastigor – Feybreak Tower (-1295, -1668) Requirements: 509,000 in 10 min | Recommended Level: 60+
Strategy: Bastigor hits hard, but most attacks are telegraphed. Mount a flying Pal with a rocket launcher for kiting and dodging, or use plasma cannon from safety. Prioritize mobility—if you’re cornered, his freeze is almost certain death. Use pillars for cover and never stay in one spot too long.
Common Mistake: Underestimating Bastigor’s health pool—treat this like a “raid boss” and pace yourself. If solo, this is borderline impossible below level cap and without top gear.
Lifeline: Potions, bandages, and a lifesteal Pal are often the difference—stock up!
Alpha Pal Bosses: Optional Yet Rewarding Fights
Once you hit a power plateau, start farming Alpha Pals—these world bosses (Chillet, Penking, Kingpaca, etc.) roam or appear in dungeons with fixed levels and set locations. I found them easier than Tower Bosses but harder than regular mobs. They drop Ancient Technology Points, rare resources, and sometimes unique passive skills. My best tip: scout each one’s element and weakness beforehand, and bring an appropriate Pal/weapon—don’t try to brute force your way if you’re underleveled, or they’ll flatten you.
Quick Route: Stack Alpha Pal runs between main bosses for XP, rare drops, and crafting upgrades.
Mistake to Avoid: Don’t overlook dungeon Alpha Pals—they’re easy to miss but drop excellent loot.
Efficiency: Catching them, not just defeating them, can help fill out your squad and expand your move/trait options.
Troubleshooting Common Boss Struggles
Underleveled? Hit up XP-rich Alpha Pals or grind mobs. Don’t stubbornly bash your head against Tower Bosses—you’ll just waste supplies.
Ammo/Healing Shortage? Always carry surplus and set up a supply box near the boss arena if possible (even temporary structures help).
Constantly KO’d Pals? Rotate out injured Pals mid-fight; let your lifesteal Pal or another tank buy time for healing.
Weapons Not Cutting It? Prioritize tech upgrades after each boss—unlocking the next weapon tier is usually more valuable than pushing an extra level or two.
Solo vs Coop: Boss health scales in multiplayer, but focused aggro and revives make the biggest difference. If struggling alone, try with a friend for easier clears.
Advanced Optimization Tips (from My Many Wipes)
Stack Elemental Buffs: Add type-boosting gear (rings, necklaces) to maximize counter-type attacks. Even +1-2% makes a difference in a long fight.
Always Target the Head: Headshots matter. I gained a full minute on time limits just by training myself to focus head-level, especially on flying bosses.
Efficient Healing: Heal between major attacks, not reactively. If you panic-heal, you’ll get caught in AoEs.
Get Familiar with Pillars: Every single boss arena has usable cover—practice circling and using these to break line-of-sight on telegraphed moves.
Build “Bench” Pals: Keep 2-3 reserve, fully-geared Pals for quick swaps before each fight—you’ll save a ton of grind time versus always leveling/catching new ones last-minute.
Bjorn & Bastigor: Fire-types/flying, max armor, use cover
Alpha Pals: Counter type; quick XP, loot, and tech points
Final encouragement: Every boss is a puzzle of type, timing, and tenacity. Don’t get discouraged by wipes—each run gets easier as you master Pal swaps, cover use, and type counters. Soon, you’ll be farming bosses for fun (and loot), not just progression. Good luck on Palpagos Island—may your Tech Points flow and your squad always have the perfect counter!
