Palworld: How to Farm Crude Oil With a Powered Satellite Base

Palworld: How to Farm Crude Oil With a Powered Satellite Base

FinalBoss·7/17/2026·8 min read

A half-built high-tier production line can come to a dead stop the moment crude oil enters the equation. The clean fix in Palworld is to treat oil as its own operation: reach level 50, unlock the Oil Extractor, establish a satellite base directly on a crude oil deposit, then keep its generator staffed by Electric Pals. The trap is trying to bring an oil deposit to your established crafting base. Deposits stay where they are, so the base has to come to the oil.

This setup turns crude oil from a frustrating late-progression wall into a steady material supply for the technology and gear chain ahead. Build the extraction site first, make its power stable, then give Transport Pals and storage a short, simple route so produced oil does not sit around creating a bottleneck.

Reach Level 50 and Unlock the Oil Extractor

Crude oil farming through a base begins at level 50. At that point, unlock the Oil Extractor in the Technology skill tree. Do not head out to claim a deposit before you can build the extractor; oil fields are useful only when you arrive prepared to establish production immediately.

Circuit Boards are a key part of this progression step. They are needed for Oil Extractors as well as late weapons and infrastructure, so it is worth building a reserve before committing to an oil outpost. Crude oil becomes especially valuable when your crafting plans move toward Polymer, high-tier components, and endgame equipment.

Bring These Before Building the Oil Base

  • Level 50 access and the Oil Extractor unlocked in the Technology tree.
  • The Circuit Boards and other crafting materials required for the extractor.
  • Materials for a Power Generator and basic base storage.
  • At least one Electric Pal to keep the generator operating.
  • Transport Pals to move output into storage instead of letting the extraction site clog up.
  • A spare base slot or a plan to turn an underused base into the oil satellite.

Preparation matters here. A deposit with an extractor but no active power is dead weight, and a powered extractor without storage quickly becomes another job you have to babysit.

Claim a Crude Oil Deposit With a Satellite Base

Crude oil deposits cannot be moved to an existing base. Build your new base directly on the oil field so the deposit is part of that base’s work area. Think of this location as a production satellite: its job is extraction, power, and storage, while your main base can stay focused on breeding, crafting, food, or other resource lines.

Step 1: Establish the Base Around the Deposit

Place the base so the crude oil deposit is covered by its operational area. Leave enough open space around the deposit for the extractor, generator, storage, and Pals to move without getting stuck behind unnecessary buildings.

A cramped oil site is easy to create because the deposit looks like the only important thing at first. It is not. The deposit needs space for the machine, and the machine needs a functioning support loop around it. Reserve a clear path between the extractor and your storage from the beginning.

Step 2: Place the Oil Extractor on the Deposit

Build the Oil Extractor directly on the crude oil deposit. The extractor is the reason for the entire base, so place it before filling the area with decorative structures, production benches, or extra storage. Once it is in place, build the power setup close enough that checking and maintaining the operation remains quick.

Do not mistake a nearby deposit for a claimed one. The extractor has to be placed on the actual crude oil field, and the field has to belong to the base you built around it.

Power the Extractor Reliably

The Oil Extractor requires electricity. Build a Power Generator at the satellite base and deploy Electric Pals capable of keeping it running. This is the part that separates a real oil farm from a machine that looks finished but produces nothing.

Keep your Electric Pals assigned at the oil base rather than assuming they will help from another location. Power generation only works when the necessary Pals are deployed and available to do their job. If oil production stops, check the power setup before rebuilding anything else.

Use This Build Order to Avoid a Dead Setup

  1. Build the satellite base around the crude oil deposit.
  2. Put down storage with a clear route from the extractor.
  3. Build the Power Generator.
  4. Deploy Electric Pals so the generator has active workers.
  5. Place and activate the Oil Extractor on the deposit.
  6. Add Transport Pals to keep crude oil moving into storage.

This order prevents the most annoying version of the problem: finishing the extractor, leaving the base, and returning later to discover the power loop was never stable or the output was never moved into storage.

Keep Crude Oil From Bottlenecking Your Base

Once the extractor is powered, logistics become the real test. Put storage close to the extractor and keep the route open for Transport Pals. The shorter and less cluttered that route is, the less likely your oil base is to become a pile of uncollected output and idle workers.

Give the Satellite Base One Clear Job

Keep the oil outpost focused on production. Its essential pieces are the crude oil deposit, Oil Extractor, Power Generator, Electric Pals, Transport Pals, and storage. Adding unrelated workstations and too many competing jobs makes it harder to see why production has slowed down.

When you need materials at your main crafting base, take planned batches from the satellite storage rather than treating every unit of oil as an emergency pickup. Keeping a dedicated reserve at the oil site gives you room to prepare Polymer and high-tier crafting materials without interrupting extraction every few minutes.

Prioritize Pals by Role

  • Electric Pals: Keep the Power Generator active so the Oil Extractor can run.
  • Transport Pals: Move produced crude oil into storage and keep the work area clear.
  • Extra workers: Only add them if they support the oil base directly. A lean workforce is easier to manage at a satellite location.

Hardwood can also be generated passively after level 43 by building Logging Site II, which is useful for reducing pressure on your main resource routine before you reach the level 50 oil milestone. Keep that passive production at an established base if the oil satellite does not need it; the satellite should stay easy to diagnose.

Use Oil Rigs When You Need Crude Oil Before the Base Is Ready

Oil Rigs provide the combat route for crude oil. Fight through the Syndicate Thugs there and loot the rig chest for crude oil. This is useful when you need a short-term supply, are still building toward a permanent extractor setup, or want oil without expanding your base network immediately.

For a repeatable long-term flow, the powered Oil Extractor base is the stronger foundation. Rig runs demand combat and repeated clears; a functioning satellite base produces oil while you handle the rest of your progression.

Fix the Three Most Common Oil Farm Failures

The Extractor Is Built but Produces No Oil

Start with the two requirements that matter most: the extractor must sit directly on a crude oil deposit, and the base must have active power. Confirm that the generator exists and that Electric Pals are deployed to operate it. Rebuilding the extractor will not help if the actual problem is an inactive power crew.

You Found Oil but Cannot Use It at Your Main Base

The deposit cannot be relocated. Establish a new base directly over it and turn that location into the oil satellite. Trying to force the resource into an existing base plan wastes space and delays the solution.

Oil Is Being Produced but Storage Is Becoming a Mess

Add nearby storage and make sure Transport Pals have a clean route. Remove needless obstacles around the extractor and storage area. This is a base-management problem, not an extraction problem: the Oil Extractor is doing its job, but its output needs a dedicated path.

Build the Oil Base Once, Then Let It Carry Your Late Game

The reliable Palworld crude oil route is straightforward: hit level 50, unlock the Oil Extractor, build a base directly over a crude oil deposit, power it with a generator and Electric Pals, then assign Transport Pals and nearby storage to handle the output. Use Oil Rigs for immediate combat-earned oil, but build the satellite farm when you want a supply line that keeps working while you move on to Polymer, high-tier parts, weapons, and infrastructure.
