Planet Zoo 2: Chapter 1 Walkthrough – Bronze Goals and Habitats

FinalBoss5 min read
Chapter 1’s bronze objectives introduce animal inspection, aardvark and shoebill habitats, and research-ride photography. Staff access, usable water and a complete bird enclosure are the main construction requirements to resolve before progressing.

East Africa’s opening tasks require camera interaction before habitat construction. Start at the small habitat beside the giraffes and complete the selection prompt before moving on. Once construction begins, place the staff gate before drawing the habitat boundary; this establishes the access point that keepers will need to service the enclosure.

Table of Contents (5)

East Africa bronze objectives, in order

  1. Complete the giraffe-area inspection. Move to the small habitat beside the giraffes, enter camera mode and select the animal or habitat indicated by the tutorial. Follow the current selection prompt rather than simply moving the camera over the enclosure.
  2. Inspect the nearby exhibit. Move to the lion area, select the exhibit and inspect it. Complete this interaction before beginning construction; the introductory viewing objective requires selecting its target.
  3. Build the aardvark habitat. Open the habitat-barrier tool and place a staff gate first. Draw a continuous boundary connected to the gate, then connect the gate to an accessible staff path. Guest and staff paths serve different purposes, so check the path type rather than relying on its appearance. A closed enclosure with an isolated gate cannot be serviced properly.
  4. Meet the aardvark’s basic needs. Install suitable feeding equipment, drinking water, shelter and enrichment before adopting or transferring the animal. Provide a keeper hut on the accessible staff network. After the aardvark arrives, select it and inspect its welfare panel to identify any remaining environmental or social requirements.
  5. Create the shoebill habitat. Build the boundary and connected staff gate, then add roof supports from the barrier menu. Use the roof tool to close the enclosure and place a nest from the shelter section. Add the remaining species-appropriate habitat equipment before adopting and placing the shoebill.

Build the aardvark habitat around access and welfare

The habitat’s boundary defines the enclosure, but its usable space depends on what the animal can reach. Keep food, water, shelter and enrichment accessible from the interior. Objects and steep terrain can obstruct movement even when everything sits inside the barrier.

Draw the habitat with the barrier placement tool rather than trying to drag out a filled area. Close the boundary completely, then inspect the gate’s path connection before adding detailed planting. This keeps access problems visible while the enclosure is still easy to adjust.

For drinking water, a trough avoids the terrain and filtration work required by a constructed water feature. If you use a pool, give the animal an accessible approach, place a water pump and connect it to filtration. A water feature behind a steep bank can leave the animal’s water requirement unresolved.

Use the welfare panel to make the remaining adjustments. The relevant checks include:

  • Habitat size and traversable area: distinguish the enclosure’s total footprint from the space the animal can actually use.
  • Terrain and native plants: adjust ground proportions and planting to the species’ requirements instead of filling the habitat for appearance alone.
  • Shelter: provide an accessible retreat and check that the animal’s shelter requirement is satisfied.
  • Social composition: inspect the required group size and ratio before adopting additional animals.
  • Enrichment: add suitable toys and feeding enrichment alongside the basic food and water equipment.

Complete both parts of the shoebill enclosure

The shoebill task introduces two separate building requirements: an enclosed roof and a nest. Roof supports come from the barrier menu, while the nest is in the shelter section. Placing one does not satisfy the other requirement.

Finish the boundary and gate connection, add the supports, then use the roof tool to close the enclosure. Place the nest and other required habitat equipment before moving the bird inside. If the task remains incomplete, inspect the roof coverage, nest placement and staff access before expanding the habitat or adding decoration.

Great Rift Valley Reserve bronze: research-ride photography

The Great Rift Valley Reserve objective uses the research ride. Take the ride and photograph hippos, savannah elephants and a pair of zebras in one photo. Use the ride’s photography interaction for this task rather than the habitat-inspection interaction introduced in East Africa.

Keep both zebras within the frame when composing the required photograph. Expedition photos also earn research points, giving the photography system a progression function beyond completing the introductory objective.

Transfer giraffes through Storage when prompted

When the tutorial asks you to send giraffes to the reserve, box the animals first. Open the Storage tab and use Release Group for the boxed animals. The reserve transfer uses this release command rather than ordinary placement into another zoo habitat.

For subsequent reserve management, biodiversity increases by adding species and removing invasive plants. Use the bulldozer tool to remove invasive growth. Photographing released animals in reserves earns conservation credits, which are needed to adopt higher-tier endangered animals.
