Légendes Pokémon Z-A
A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémo…
The last time Game Freak shook up the formula with Legends: Arceus, it split the fanbase but proved the series still has room to evolve. Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings that energy into Lumiose City with real-time battles and Mega Evolutions-cool. But launch day raises a very practical question for most of us: which version should you actually buy, and where’s the best price right now?
Release day is October 16, 2025, and it’s on both Switch and Switch 2. The big gameplay pitch: real-time dynamic battles, Mega Evolutions returning, and an urban playground in Lumiose. There’s also a Z-A Battle Club mode for 4-player chaos and ranked play for the competitive crowd. That’s the fun stuff. The practical stuff that actually affects your wallet: pricing and platform choice.
Note: prices move fast. If you’re seeing a few euros swing either way, that’s normal. Also, watch out for “marketplace” listings that look too cheap-Nintendo doesn’t do PC-style key resellers, and grey-market storefronts are not worth the risk for a day-one Pokémon release.
This is where the gamer brain and the wallet battle it out. If you own a Switch 2-or plan to pick one up soon—the €51.99 version is the straightforward pick. The promise is improved frame rate and cleaner visuals, which matters here because Z-A leans into real-time action elements. Smoothness isn’t a luxury; it’s part of the experience.

If you’re staying on a regular Switch for a while, the €44–45 deals are fantastic. You’ll get the full story, Mega Evolutions, and all the modes without paying a next-gen tax. For most players who aren’t itching to min-max performance, this is the best value path.
About upgrades: there’s mention of a paid upgrade path from the Switch version to the Switch 2 edition via an “upgrade pack.” Treat this as region- and retailer-dependent. If that’s your plan, do the math: Switch base (€44–45) plus upgrade cost vs buying the Switch 2 version outright. Also, confirm save compatibility before you commit—Pokémon games can be finicky about how saves move across editions.

Bundles are only deals if they beat the separate prices at the same store. Put simply, take the best Switch 2 console price you can find and add €51.99 for Z-A. If that’s higher than €469, the bundle saves you money; if it’s lower, skip the bundle and buy separately. Don’t let “launch bundle” FOMO push you into paying more for convenience.
Switch is region-free for cartridges, but digital storefronts are tied to your account’s region. If you import a cheaper physical copy, you’re generally fine; just be mindful of any retailer-exclusive DLC codes that might be region-restricted.
From hands-on and early impressions, Z-A’s shift to dynamic combat and urban design makes performance more noticeable than in the turn-based era. If you care about responsiveness in crowded battles and a cleaner Lumiose draw distance, the Switch 2 version becomes more than a vanity purchase. If you’re here for the story, collecting, and Mega Evolution nostalgia—Switch base at €44–45 is hard to argue with.

Our full review is already live, but the short version: there’s enough freshness here to justify jumping in at launch if you’ve been waiting for Pokémon to push itself again. Just don’t overpay for features you won’t notice.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is out now. Best deals today: ~€44–45 on Switch, ~€51.99 on Switch 2, and a Switch 2 + Z-A bundle around €469. If you own a Switch 2, grab the newer version for performance. If you’re staying on a base Switch, the sub-€45 price is the sweet spot—no FOMO required.
