Collinangle Overview – Why Cooking & Forging Matter So Much Here
After a couple of long evenings in Collinangle, it finally clicked for me: this region isn’t really about combat or just placing cute habitats – it’s a full-on cooking and forging exam. Almost every main quest gate is locked behind a dish you haven’t cooked yet or a tool you haven’t forged.
This guide walks you through the entire Collinangle main questline in Pokémon Pokopia, from your first steps by the misplaced PC to the big “It’s the Party!” festival with DJ Motisma. I’ll show you exactly when to:
- Build specific habitats to recruit key Pokémon (Machopeur, Efflèche, Chartor, Magmar, Ludicolo…)
- Unlock and upgrade abilities like Strength, Cut, Rock Smash, and Rollout
- Use cooking (salads, bread, steaks) to power up those abilities
- Use forging (cutting boards, ovens, pans, platters) to keep the story moving
- Finish the festival quest and upgrade Collinangle for good
Estimated time: 3-5 hours if you focus on the main quests.
Difficulty: Medium – the hardest part is knowing which habitat or recipe to unlock next, not the fights themselves.
Prerequisites & General Tips for Collinangle
Before really digging in, a few practical tips I wish I’d known when I first arrived:
- Keep basic materials stocked: logs, stone, volcanic ash, and plant materials (tall grass, moss, floating plants) are used constantly.
- Check the PC shop often:
- Always eat at least one of any new dish:ability upgrade only triggers when you eat the food you’ve just learned to cook.
- Place habitats thoughtfully:
- Watch the Environment Level:
Step 1 – Get Your Bearings and Unlock Strength with Machopeur
The region starts with a small puzzle around the PC (computer) that isn’t hooked up properly. You can’t really explore Collinangle until it’s powered.
Step → Action → Result
- Step: Reach the misplaced PC in the starting area.
- Action: Try to interact with it; you’ll see it needs to be pushed to its power source.
- Result: You learn you need someone strong to clear rocks and help you move heavy objects.
To solve this, you must build Machopeur’s training habitat.
Build the “Training Corner” Habitat (Machopeur – Strength)
Near the PC, you’ll create the habitat Training Corner in Tall Grass to attract Machopeur.
Step → Action → Result
- Step: Gather materials for the habitat.
- Action: Place:
- 4 × Tall Grass
- 2 × Sandbags
in a coherent cluster near the PC.
- Result: Machopeur appears and offers to help.
Follow Machopeur as he leads you to a rocky plaza. He’ll help clean up the boulders.
- Step: Assist Machopeur clearing the rock-covered square.
- Action: Interact where prompted and let him show off his power.
- Result: You unlock the Strength ability (used to push heavy objects like the PC).
Now go back to the Pokémon Center area and use Strength to push the PC onto its correct spot to power it. Then, follow Professor Bouldeneu (Tangrowth) into the nearby stone building. Inside, you’ll find a Pokémon locked in a barrel, chained shut – this is where the cooking arc starts.
Step 2 – Learn Salads with Efflèche & Flambino (Cutting Board)
You can’t just smash the chain on the barrel. The trick is: you must improve your cooking to power up your abilities. First, you’ll learn to cook salads.
Recruit Efflèche with the “Tall Grass with Rock and Pine” Habitat
Efflèche (Dartrix) is key because it teaches you how to make a cutting board.
- Step: Build the habitat Tall Grass with Rock and Pine.
- Action: Place:
- 1 × Pointy Tree (pine-type)
- 1 × Big Rock
- 4 × Red Tall Grass
- Result: Efflèche appears and asks you to build a perch.
Next, you need the perch blueprint.
- Step: Get the perch plans.
- Action: Check the PC shop and purchase the blueprint for Efflèche’s perch.
- Result: You can now craft the perch at your workbench, then place it near Efflèche.
Once the perch is built and placed, Efflèche rewards you by teaching you how to craft a cutting board.
Cook Salads to Boost Your Power
With the cutting board unlocked, find a nice spot to set up your first proper cooking area. Flambino (Scorbunny) steps in here to guide you through basic salad recipes.
- Step: Craft and place a cutting board.
- Action: Use the board with ingredients Flambino suggests to make various salads.
- Result: Your grass-type move (Leafage/Feuillage) is improved.
Even with salads and your boosted attack, you still can’t cut the heavy chain on the barrel. For that, you’ll need to go one step further and learn how to bake bread to upgrade Cut.
Step 3 – Bake Bread with Chartor to Unlock Cut
This is where the region’s volcanic theme really starts to matter. You’ll need a Pokémon with a combustion specialty to power a bread oven: Chartor (Torkoal).
Find Chartor in the Steamy Caves
Chartor lives in the humid, hot caves just west of the Collinangle Pokémon Center.
- Step: Head west from the Pokémon Center.
- Action: Use your current Rock Smash level (Éclate‑Roc) where needed to climb into a cave system.
- Result: You’ll reach an underground area with hot water and three clusters of green moss.
This spot is perfect for Chartor’s habitat.
Build Chartor’s “Mossy Hot Spring” Habitat
- Step: Create the Mossy Hot Spring habitat.
- Action: Place:
around a pool of hot water in that cave.
- Result: Chartor appears with the Combustion specialty.
Chartor won’t help immediately; it wants to stretch its legs and visit the Pokémon Center in Collinangle.
Escort Chartor Back with Wooden Stairs
This section tripped me up the first time: Chartor dislikes certain terrain (too dry, uneven), so you need to lay down a path it’s comfortable walking on.
- Step: Craft plenty of wooden stairs.
- Action: Place the stairs along the route from Chartor’s cave back to the surface, ensuring there are no big gaps or dry stretches that make it stop.
- Result: Chartor successfully reaches the Pokémon Center and agrees to share the bread oven blueprint.
Build the Bread Oven and Upgrade Cut
The bread oven is crafted at your workbench once you have the recipe.
- Bread Oven Recipe:
- 2 × Stone
- 2 × Small Log
- 4 × Volcanic Ash
- Step: Build and place the bread oven.
- Action: Ask Chartor to light it, then use wheat to bake a Simple Bread (or any basic loaf).
- Result: Eat the bread to upgrade your Cut ability.
Now, climb on the barrels near the chained one and use your enhanced Cut to slice through the chain and free Rougribou/Rongragoût, the chef Pokémon. This also lets you cut the metal grates blocking nearby caves, opening up more of the region.
Step 4 – Forge a Pan with Magmar to Upgrade Rock Smash
Rongragoût is grateful but not done teaching you. Next, it wants to show you how to make Steaks Hachés (minced “steak” dishes) to power up Rock Smash. For that, you’ll need a proper frying pan, which means stepping into real forging.
Find the Mine and the Extinguished Furnace
Head north from the settlement, following the mine rails. You’ll come across an old, extinguished furnace.
- Step: Follow the tracks north.
- Action: Explore along the rails until you find the inactive furnace setup.
- Result: You discover where you’ll do your metalwork, but you need a fire starter.
Build Magmar’s “Extraction and Fusion Site” Habitat
To light the furnace, you need Magmar and its fiery expertise.
- Step: Create the Extraction and Fusion Site habitat next to the mine furnace.
- Action: Place:
- 1 × Wheelbarrow
- 1 × Furnace
- 1 × Digging Tools (shovel + pickaxe)
- Result: Magmar appears in the area.
Ask Magmar to light the furnace. With that done, you can start smelting copper ore into copper ingots.
- Step: Place copper in the furnace.
- Action: Use the furnace interface to process copper into ingots.
- Result: You obtain copper ingots used for forging utensils.
Forge the Pan and Cook Steaks Hachés
- Step: Craft the pan at your workbench.
- Action: Bring it to the kitchen, place it on the stovetop, and use beans as main ingredients to cook Steaks Hachés.
- Result: Eat one to significantly upgrade Rock Smash (Éclate‑Roc).
This upgraded Rock Smash not only opens new paths in the volcanic terrain, it’s also crucial for the next story trigger.
Step 5 – Raise Environment Level to 3 and Unlock Rollout
Before the final act of Collinangle, the game asks you to improve the overall quality of the environment in the region.
- Goal: Reach Environment Level 3 in Collinangle.
- How:
- Build new habitats for different Pokémon.
- Upgrade existing habitats with extra decorations or functional items.
- Construct shelters and useful buildings around the area.
While working toward Level 3, Machopeur will help you encounter Gravalanch (Graveler). Completing its associated tasks grants you the move Rollout, which is helpful for traversing certain sections and adds to your mobility toolkit.
Step 6 – Discover DJ Motisma and Start “It’s the Party!”
With your powered-up Rock Smash and improved environment, the final part of the Collinangle storyline kicks off.
After a while, Flambino will ask to talk to you. It’s heard a strange noise coming from a pile of volcanic ash near the Pokémon Center.
- Step: Go to the ash heap close to the center.
- Action: Use your upgraded Rock Smash to break through the ash and hidden rocks.
- Result: You reveal a secret room containing one of the region’s special Pokémon: DJ Motisma.
Meeting DJ Motisma starts the big regional quest: “C’est la fête !” / “It’s the Party!” This is the climax of Collinangle’s story and heavily tied to both cooking and forging.
Step 7 – Organise the Festival: “It’s the Party!” Quest
There is a lot going on in this quest, but it breaks down into a few clear phases: clean the plaza, set the mood, bring the music, prepare the feast.
Clean the Plaza, Place the Party Cauldron & Raise Ambience
- Step: Clear out the main square.
- Action: Use your abilities to remove all volcanic ash and debris from the plaza, then place the special party cauldron.
- Result: The area becomes the main festival ground.
Now you need to fulfill a set of requests to increase the Ambience score to 100.
- Professor Bouldeneu’s request:
- Decorate the area with various items.
- Give Bouldeneu at least one large “lost object”.
- DJ Motisma’s request:
- Hand over your CDs so it can set the party soundtrack.
Each decoration and fulfilled request adds Ambience points. Keep checking the quest log or DJ Motisma until you’re ready for the next step.
Summon Ludicolo with the “Pond with Floating Plants” Habitat
DJ Motisma will eventually ask for Ludicolo to really get the party going.
- Step: Build the Pond with Floating Plants habitat.
- Action: In a higher section of the crop/farming zone, place:
- 1 × Pond
- 4 × Floating Plants
- Result: Ludicolo appears; guide it down to the festival plaza.
Once Ludicolo arrives and starts dancing at the party, that part of DJ Motisma’s request is complete and Ambience shoots up.
Forge Party Platters and Serve Five Different Dishes
Now comes the most “forging + cooking” heavy part of the quest: crafting 5 party platters, each loaded with 5 different dishes.
- Step: Gather iron ore around Collinangle.
- Action: Mine every iron deposit you can find and bring the ore back to Magmar at the furnace.
- Result: Magmar smelts the ore into iron ingots.
- Party Platter Recipe: (per platter)
- Iron Ingots × required amount (craft 5 total platters at the workbench)
- Step: Craft 5 party platters at your workbench.
- Action: Place them in the festival zone and fill them with five different dishes each – for example:
- Salads
- Steaks Hachés
- Breads
- And any other recipes you’ve unlocked
- Result: The feast looks impressive and boosts Ambience.
If you’re still short of 100 Ambience, simply add more decorations, habitats, and interactive items around the plaza, then check back with DJ Motisma.
Reach Ambience 100 and Complete the Final Feast
When Ambience hits 100, talk to DJ Motisma and Rongragoût to kick off the final cooking sequence.
- Step: Ask Rongragoût to join you by the party cauldron.
- Action: Make sure all the required Pokémon are present and gather these ingredients:
- 15 × Mepo Berry
- 15 × Wheat Ear
- 15 × Bean
- 5 × Honey Pot
- Result: You prepare the grand dish for the festival and trigger a sequence of events, including the appearance of a surprise Pokémon.
Once the celebration wraps up, you’ve effectively completed the main Collinangle questline. The story hints at more, but the core regional arc is done.
After the Festival – Finishing Collinangle & Next Region
Even though the festival is over, there are still a couple of cleanup goals if you want Collinangle at its best:
- Finish rebuilding the Collinangle Pokémon Center.
- Raise the Environment Level to 5 by:
- Adding more habitats and decorations.
- Refining existing builds into more advanced layouts.
- Continuing to attract and satisfy new Pokémon.
Once you’re satisfied with your volcanic playground, you can move on to the next major area, Grisemer, to continue Pokémon Pokopia’s main story with your newly honed cooking and forging skills.
