Pokémon Pokopia: How to Get Muplodocus – Rain Spawn & Baie Habitat Guide

Muplodocus only started showing up consistently for me once I combined two things: active rain in a humid area and a complete Baie furniture setup right next to water. If you’re stuck at 0% spawn chance, this guide walks through the exact conditions, furniture layout, and shiny Hisui method that finally worked.

Quick Checklist to Get Muplodocus

Before going into details, here’s the short version of what you need:

  • Access to a humid, water-adjacent habitat (pond, marsh, or heavy-mist plot).
  • Active rain in that area (Muplodocus has never appeared for me in clear or dry weather).
  • A full Baie-themed corner built near water:
    • 1× Baie Bench
    • 1× Baie Table
    • 4× Baie Bushes
  • Optional but recommended: 4× Uplifting Duckweed + 1× Party Cooking Pot relic to push Environment Level to 5.
  • For shiny Hisui Muplodocus: postgame access to 5★ Dragon rifts via Gypso (25,000 points and Rayquaza beaten).

If any of those pieces are missing, Muplodocus either won’t appear at all or will leave quickly. Below I’ll break down how to hit each requirement reliably and how to tell when your setup is actually working.

Muplodocus Basics: Why It’s Worth the Effort

Muplodocus (#076) is a pure Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia. It’s a big one: 2 meters tall and 150.5 kg. In practice, it behaves like a slow, tanky support Pokémon for your wetter habitats rather than an aggressive gatherer.

The two abilities that matter for habitat building are:

  • Arrosage (Watering) – Muplodocus draws from nearby water basins and hydrates the surroundings. In my setups, this keeps soil and decorative ponds “fresh” between natural rains, which is especially noticeable if you’re running crop plots or moisture-sensitive plants nearby.
  • Troc (Trade) – Lets Muplodocus initiate item swaps with other Pokémon. This is handy for converting common items into the rarer materials you need for advanced furniture and habitat upgrades.

In other words, Muplodocus is both a mood stabilizer for wet habitats (thanks to Arrosage) and a long-term progression engine via Troc. That’s why nailing its very specific spawn conditions is worth your time if you’re aiming for full Pokédex and optimized bases.

Step 1 – Get the Right Biome and Weather

The breakthrough for me was accepting that Muplodocus is essentially “rain-locked.” I have never seen it spawn under clear skies or even during light drizzle that doesn’t register as full rain.

Pick a Humid, Water-Adjacent Plot

Muplodocus favors humid environments. In practice, the best candidates are any plots that:

  • Have a natural pond, marsh, or water channel on the tile; and
  • Show damp or misty ground visuals even without rain.

When you open the habitat details, prioritize anything described as “wet,” “marshy,” or “humid.” Dry grasslands, rocky cliffs, or desert-style plots have never produced Muplodocus for me, no matter how much Baie furniture I stacked there.

Wait for (Real) Rain

Muplodocus only appears from the encounter pool during active rain. You’ll know you’re in the right state when:

  • The rain icon is visible on the HUD for that habitat.
  • Raindrops are clearly falling, and small puddles form on the ground.
  • Other weather-affected Pokémon in your area start reacting (you’ll often see Water-types get a mood boost).

Right now there’s no guaranteed “turn on rain” button. What worked best for me was rotating between a couple of wet habitats, doing short tasks (like harvesting or moving furniture), and letting the natural weather cycle roll. If a habitat goes through a full day-night cycle with no rain, I usually switch to another wet plot for a while to avoid wasting time staring at the sky.

Once you’ve confirmed you’re in a humid habitat and it’s raining, you’re ready to build the Baie zone that actually convinces Muplodocus to spawn and stay.

Step 2 – Build the Baie Furniture Setup (Without Wasting Materials)

This is where most people get stuck. Muplodocus is tied to a specific “Baie” furniture theme, but the game never clearly states how many pieces are required. Different guides list 6–8 items. Here’s what I tested in my own habitat.

Minimum Baie Set That Worked for Me

I only started seeing Muplodocus after placing all of the following within one tight area near water:

  • Baie Bench
  • Baie Table
  • Baie Bushes

With just the bench and table, or with fewer bushes, my spawn rate was effectively 0% even during perfect rain. As soon as I added the fourth Baie Bush and arranged everything around a pond edge, Muplodocus started showing up in the next few rainy cycles.

Some habitat-dex videos suggest there might be extra cosmetic Baie pieces (like paths or lamps) that also count toward theme completion, which is why you’ll see that 6–8 item discrepancy. What I can confirm is that the 6 items listed above are enough. If you’re short on materials, start there rather than crafting everything labeled “Baie.”

Placement Tips That Seemed to Matter

  • Keep the entire Baie set within a few steps of open water (pond edge, basin cluster, or marsh pool).
  • Avoid scattering Baie pieces across the whole habitat; build a clear “Baie corner” that looks intentional.
  • Leave enough walking space so large Pokémon can navigate around the bench and table – cramped layouts can cause weird pathing and lower mood.

The game doesn’t show you a numeric “Baie score,” but once I had the 6 core pieces tightly grouped near water, other residents started pathing to that corner more often, which is usually a good sign the theme is active.

Step 3 – Push Environment Level to 5 for Stability

You can technically attract Muplodocus without maxing the Environment Level, but its mood and retention are much better once the habitat hits Level 5. That matters if you don’t want it wandering off after a single rainy visit.

The most efficient combo I found for a Muplodocus-focused build was:

  • 4× Uplifting Duckweed – Place these right on the water’s edge, spaced evenly around the pond or marsh. They synergize with the whole “humid, wet” vibe and nudge the Environment Level upward.
  • 1× Party Cooking Pot relic – Put this just outside the Baie cluster. It boosts the “cozy gathering” feel of the zone, which seems to help Dragon-types that enjoy communal spaces.

With those in place plus the full Baie set, my Environment Level hit 5 and stayed there even after minor tweaks. At that point, Muplodocus not only appeared more regularly during rain but also tended to stick around, using Arrosage on nearby basins instead of immediately despawning between showers.

How to Tell If Your Setup Is Working

To avoid wasting time, use this loop to validate your build:

  • Confirm the habitat description mentions humidity or proximity to water.
  • Check Environment Level – aim for Level 4–5.
  • Verify:
    • Baie Bench: placed near water
    • Baie Table: placed near bench
    • 4× Baie Bushes: forming a loose square or arc around them
  • Wait through 2–3 rainy cycles in that habitat. If Muplodocus doesn’t show even once, something is wrong (usually a missing or misplaced Baie piece).

When everything is correct, I usually see the first Muplodocus within one or two full rain periods. It may not appear every single time, but the difference between “never appears” and “shows up regularly” is very obvious once the Baie zone and Environment Level are dialed in.

Using Muplodocus Once You Have It

Once Muplodocus is part of your habitat rotation, lean into what it does best:

  • Place extra water basins just inside the Baie corner. Muplodocus likes to sit near them to trigger Arrosage, which keeps crops or decorative plants hydrated.
  • Schedule Troc sessions when other Pokémon with surplus items are nearby. I got a lot of my rare upgrade materials this way without direct farming.
  • Keep it in your wettest, coziest habitat. Moving Muplodocus to dry or cluttered areas tanks its mood and makes it leave more often.

Think of it as a semi-passive support unit: you don’t have to micromanage it constantly, but building around its habits pays off over time.

Shiny Hisui Muplodocus – Postgame Rift Method

If you’re hunting the shiny Hisui variant, the normal habitat tricks don’t apply. Shiny Muplodocus is locked behind late-game content and specific rift rules.

Unlock Requirements

  • Finish the Rayquaza fight and associated story segment.
  • Earn at least 25,000 points with Gypso (the rift coordinator).
  • Complete the follow-up dialogue with Corvo to unlock 5★ Dragon rifts.
  • Bring your Frigodo friend along – it’s required for accessing the correct rift configuration.

Only once all that is done will shiny-capable Muplodocus spawns be added to the Dragon rift pool.

Efficient Shiny Loop (TP Reset Method)

Inside a 5★ Dragon rift, I had the best results doing this:

  • Make sure your Brillance Level for the rift is at least 2. This allows multiple rare spawns in one instance without needing a full reload.
  • When you enter, check the left-hand spawn cluster first; that’s where Muplodocus most often appeared for me.
  • If no Muplodocus (or no shiny) appears, use your Teleport (TP) ability to fully reset the rift spawns, then run back to the left cluster.
  • Repeat this TP-reset loop. I’d plan for at least 30+ resets if you’re seriously committing to the hunt; some runs took less, some more.

The TP reset method is monotonous but faster than leaving and re-entering the rift each time. Just keep an eye on your resources so you don’t run out mid-hunt.

The important thing is not to start shiny hunting until you’ve confirmed normal Muplodocus rift spawns first; otherwise you’ll waste time resetting a rift where it isn’t even in the active pool yet.
