Rayman Legends Retold turns that return into a broader package: every main edition includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, while the Switch 2 Launch Edition adds collector material rather than extra gameplay.

The important buying distinction is straightforward. Choose the $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 Launch Edition for the printed Glade of Dreams map, three lithographs, and exclusive slipcase. Choose the digital Deluxe Edition if the Retro Pack costumes and Art Gallery matter more than shelf extras. On Switch 2, account for the Game-Key Card before committing to retail: the card authorizes the game, but the game data still has to be downloaded.

The Switch 2 date moved to December 3, 2026

Rayman Legends Retold was initially set for October 1, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2. Ubisoft Montpellier shifted that release to December 3, 2026, using the additional window for quality work after the game had already gone gold.

That delay changes the date on which a pre-order becomes playable; it does not change the edition breakdown. The physical Launch Edition remains the collector-focused choice, while the Deluxe Edition remains a digital bundle built around cosmetic content.

The key value point is easy to miss in the marketing: Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition comes with Standard, Launch, and Deluxe editions. You do not need to buy the Launch or Deluxe package solely to get the earlier Rayman game.

The Launch Edition is a better physical object than a gameplay upgrade. It gives the Standard Edition much stronger value than a typical remake bundle, since it covers both major entries rather than treating the older game as a Deluxe-only extra.

For players mainly interested in platforming rather than box contents, this is the deciding detail: Standard already contains the two-game Rayman package. The Launch Edition’s premium is for the map, lithographs, and slipcase.

The Switch 2 Game-Key Card catch

The Switch 2 retail copy uses a Game-Key Card. The card is a physical authorization key, while the playable game data must be downloaded from the internet before you can play. It gives you a box, a card, and the Launch Edition’s collector material, but it does not provide a complete self-contained game installation on the card.

Betilla grants Fairy Radiance, and the game supports extensive outfit customization with dozens of looks to unlock. The remake also introduces a new realm identified as the Land of the Living Dead or Land of the Livid Dead, while its music-level total reaches 12 through four new musical stages alongside returning favorites.

Co-op supports up to four players, although the full adventure remains playable solo. Kung Foot Evo expands the competitive side mode with deeper controls, new arenas, power-ups, one-on-one matches, and doubles. Cave of Trials includes daily, weekly, and monthly challenges, plus the Old Deep Nightmare Trials for players who want repeatable platforming tests after the main route.

Dragon rides add another way to move between realms, pairing travel with enemy encounters and Teensie rescues. These additions give the package more to do than the original progression path, even for players who already know the broad shape of Rayman Legends.
