Resident Evil 2 and 3 Are $7.99 on PS5, but the Bundle Is the Trap

Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are 80% off at $7.99 each on PlayStation Store, while the Raccoon City bundle is not included in the same deal.

Capcom’s modern Raccoon City remakes have been a durable part of the series’ revival: Resident Evil 2 alone has now passed 20 million players across sales and services including Game Pass. That reach makes the current PlayStation Store pricing unusually simple for newcomers — provided they select the correct product page.

Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are each listed at $7.99, down 80% from $39.99. The promotion applies to the individual PS4 versions that are playable in the PS5 ecosystem, with store listings commonly labelled PS4 & PS5. These are the 2019 and 2020 remakes, not the original PlayStation-era releases: RE2 follows Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield through the outbreak in Raccoon City, while RE3 continues that disaster with a more action-driven structure.

The important caveat is the bundle. The Raccoon City Edition — also described in deal coverage as the Raccoon City Bundle — does not receive the same 80% reduction. Buyers should not assume that a multi-game listing automatically beats two discounted standalone purchases. The separate Resident Evil Remake Trilogy page further complicates comparison, because it includes Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition for PS4 and PS5 alongside Resident Evil 3 and additional remake content. It is a different SKU, with different included editions and pricing.

This sale also lands as Capcom broadens the remake line again. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition are scheduled to reach Nintendo Switch 2 digitally on October 16, 2026, with physical editions following January 29, 2027. The Switch 2 releases are positioned as complete editions with DLC, but that does not change what the PlayStation deal includes.

The verdict: buy the two $7.99 standalone listings if those are the games you want; do not pay bundle pricing unless its specific Deluxe content and third-game package justify the difference.
