RuneScape: Dragonwilds Hits Xbox With a Bigger 1.0 Endgame Plan

RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves Early Access on September 15, 2026, launching on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass with its 1.0 content and a roadmap extending into 2027.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is not a console version of the long-running MMO; it is a survival-crafting adventure set on Ashenfall, where building a base, gathering materials and preparing for dangerous expeditions define the loop. That distinction matters for returning RuneScape players expecting a conventional online RPG when it reaches Xbox Series X|S on September 15, 2026.

The 1.0 launch ends an Early Access run that began in April 2025 and passed one million sales. It brings the game to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with Xbox Game Pass availability from day one. Digital Standard and Deluxe editions are planned at launch; physical Standard and Deluxe editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X follow in Q4 2026.

Players can tackle Dragonwilds alone or in groups of up to four, making the choice of party size more than a social preference. Solo players must cover resource gathering, crafting and combat preparation themselves, while co-op groups can divide those jobs before confronting area bosses. Dedicated servers introduced during the game’s Early Access expansion also support larger sessions, with a six-player cap.

Progression retains a recognisable RuneScape principle: every skill can advance to level 99. Performing relevant actions earns XP, while each Skill Tree unlocks abilities, spells, traits and buffs. Anima-powered Skill Spells give survival tools a more fantastical edge, including effects such as summoning a spectral axe. The Ranged Skill arrives on September 9, just ahead of 1.0, offering another route for players planning their first build.

The launch package centres on the Scorned Wilderness, including its raid and the final battle against Kuldra, the Dragon Queen, completing the Kuldra Saga. The map has already tripled in size across 18 months of development, adding three regions, bosses, material upgrades and familiar RuneScape gear.

Post-launch content is planned through 2027 and beyond, so September 15 is the starting line for players who want to progress alongside the game rather than wait for its roadmap to fill in.
