RUSH: Apex Edition just dropped on PS VR2, and it immediately caught my attention for two reasons: PSVR2 has been starving for pick-up-and-play multiplayer that isn’t a shooter, and The Binary Mill quietly knows how to make VR feel good in your hands (see: Gun Club VR, Mini Motor Racing X). This is a full remaster of the 2017 wingsuit racer with over 90 tracks, 12-player online races, proximity VOIP, spatial audio, weather effects, and all the PS5 toys-adaptive triggers and headset haptics included. Priced at $19.99, it’s aiming squarely at the “one-more-run” slot in your library.
The Binary Mill rebuilt RUSH for PSVR2 with upgraded lighting, denser scenes, and new weather like rain, snow, and fog. It’s not going for sim realism—this is unabashedly arcade, threading rings and canyon lines at ridiculous speeds. The DualSense’s adaptive triggers handle boost and brake with distinct resistance, and the headset haptics sell impact and wind buffeting in a way flat games simply can’t. Toss in spatial audio and you get a surprisingly convincing sense of slicing air, even if the physics lean toward fun over fidelity.
The big upgrade is the multiplayer: lobbies up to 12 racers, global leaderboards, and proximity VOIP that makes near-misses instantly chaotic and hilarious. PS Plus is required for online, obviously, but this is the kind of game that lives or dies on a loud, busy lobby—exactly the energy PSVR2 has been missing outside of shooters like Pavlov.
High-speed VR is a balancing act: thrill versus nausea. On paper, RUSH is doing the right things—high framerates (90/120fps targets), clean visuals, and responsive input. That should keep motion sickness in check for most players. Wingsuit games can still wobble if your head motion and momentum fight each other, so I’m curious how the game handles sudden altitude changes and landings. If the vignettes, comfort toggles, and braking feel are tuned well, this could be one of the more approachable “extreme motion” titles on PSVR2.

The track count is headline-friendly—90+ sounds huge—but veterans know the trap: lots of variants of the same canyons, backwards routes, and weather remixes. That’s not a deal-breaker if the lines are interesting and the difficulty ramps cleanly. The Binary Mill’s past games understood bite-sized progression, so I’m optimistic the grind lands closer to “just one more medal” than “XP drip-feed you out of cosmetics.”
PSVR2 in 2025 needs sticky, social games that don’t cost $50+ and aren’t 10-hour campaigns you play once. RUSH: Apex Edition fills that gap neatly. It’s the kind of game you fire up for 15 minutes and end up playing for an hour because a lobby forms, someone trash-talks you on a ridge line, and suddenly you’re chasing a leaderboard ghost at 2 a.m. Proximity chat is a small feature that changes the vibe completely—think Walkabout Mini Golf’s clubhouse energy, but at 100 km/h with a cliff face inches from your visor.

The price also matters. At $19.99, it’s an easy recommendation if performance holds and the servers stay busy. VR multiplayer lives and dies on critical mass; launch-week lobbies are a given, but the real test is month two. If the studio keeps seasonal events, daily challenges, or rotating featured tracks, this could become a reliable go-to alongside your usual shooters and rhythm games.
Targeting 90fps on PS5 and 120fps on PS5 Pro is the headline spec, and for a wingsuit racer it’s more than bragging rights—it’s comfort. The extra fluidity on Pro should reduce blur and help you read lines earlier when threading rings or skimming ridge edges. What I’ll be watching for: how those targets behave in heavy weather, dense foliage, and crowded 12-player packs. Consistency matters more than peaks; if the frame pacing stays locked, RUSH will feel great even when you bungled a corner and are scraping bark.

Boost timing, brake feathering, and line discipline will separate podiums from pileups. Expect early meta to revolve around conservative boosts and aggressive ring-centering for clean multipliers. Proximity VOIP is more than flavor—it’ll let squads call lines through blind turns, or just troll you into overboosting into a pine tree. Either way, the social layer is doing real design work here, not just noise in the background.
RUSH: Apex Edition is the kind of fast, social arcade experience PSVR2 needed—big lobby energy, smart haptics, and performance targets that make sense for comfort. If the track variety holds and the lobbies stay alive, this is an easy recommendation at the price.
