Silent Hill play order + Townfall SWDP Control Room console codes

FinalBoss8 min read

Start with Silent Hill’s original four games in release order, then move through the later standalone entries. In Silent Hill: Townfall’s SWDP Control Room, every console action has to use the correct `action + equipment type + three-digit identifier` from its matching clue—the console rejects a correct number if it’s paired with the wrong machine.

At the SWDP console, switch on both power switches beneath the printer before entering any commands. Then use the CCTV feeds and nearby documents to pair the exact action, equipment type, and three-digit identifier. The console rejects a correct number if it is attached to the wrong machine.

SWDP Control Room: the full working sequence

The clean route is to open Valve B, start the filter, finish the Auxiliary Lines pipe puzzle, flush the auxiliary line, stop the regulator, unlock and manually open Valve F, then complete the clamp-release module. Do not try to enter every number from one camera feed: each ID belongs to a different piece of equipment.

Sequence to follow: Open Valve 245 → Start Filter 130 → solve Auxiliary Lines → Flush AUX Line 246 → Stop Regulator 781 → unlock Valve F with 592 → manually open Valve F → enter the clamp-release values (D71, then E3E3).

1. Open Valve B with code 245

At the console, select Open as the action, Valve as the equipment category, and enter 245. This is the identifier for Valve B, taken from its dedicated CCTV view.

The common failure here is copying a number from the Valve F area or treating every visible number as a universal valve code. Valve B is 245. Confirm the completed command after selecting all three fields; highlighting the correct options does not execute the order.

2. Start Filter A with code 130

Return to the CCTV system and inspect the filter-unit feed. At the console, enter:

  • Action: Start
  • Equipment: Filter
  • Identifier: 130

This starts the filtration system and opens the route into the Auxiliary Lines stage. Keep the labels straight: the game is testing the full command, not only whether you noticed a three-digit number.

3. Solve the Auxiliary Lines pipe-routing puzzle

Leave the console after starting the filter and enter the Auxiliary Lines section. The objective is to build one continuous connection through the available pipe pieces. The layout changes as the number of active lines drops from three to two to one, so this section is better solved by following the currently lit route than by trying to force a memorized arrangement.

  • Start from the active input rather than a dead-end pipe.
  • Rotate or place pieces so the line remains continuous from its source to its destination.
  • Check every junction before leaving; one disconnected segment prevents the next console command from progressing.
  • If Auxiliary Line B is locked, use locker code 0825 to obtain the Ox Key needed for the auxiliary-lines section.

Once the pipe route is complete, return to the Control Room. Trying to stop the regulator before this routing task is finished leaves the puzzle sequence stalled.

4. Flush AUX Line B with code 246

Select Flush or Purge, depending on the wording shown by your interface, then choose AUX Line and enter 246.

The important detail is where this code comes from: 246 is printed on a Control Room document. It does not come from the Valve B camera. Reusing 245 here is the most likely reason the console refuses to accept the command.

5. Stop the regulator with code 781

Use the Regulator CCTV feed, then enter the following command:

  • Action: Stop
  • Equipment: Regulator
  • Identifier: 781

This shuts down the regulator and clears the way to the Valve F section. If 781 fails, check that the equipment field says Regulator; the console does not treat an ID as valid outside its matching system category.

6. Unlock and open Valve F

The Valve F door uses 592. Enter that value at the console to unlock the door, then proceed into the newly accessible area and interact with Valve F directly to perform the manual opening action.

Valve F is a physical follow-up, not another remote CCTV command. Opening the door with 592 only grants access; you still need to reach the valve and operate it before the final clamp procedure becomes available.

7. Clamp Release Module answer: D71 and E3E3

The final interface uses its own fields rather than the Control Room’s action-and-device format. Enter D71 for the Clamp Connection field, then enter E3E3 when the module requests the clamp-release code.

Keep the clamp code separate from the alarm conversion. The alarm sequence uses 772-89 and converts to A5D7; that value is for the alarm-related input, while E3E3 is the code that releases the clamps.

Why the SWDP console gets stuck

Only one power switch is active: inspect the panel beneath the printer and make sure both switches are on. Valve B uses the wrong number: enter 245 for Valve B, taken from its camera feed. The filter command fails: select Start → Filter → 130. The AUX-line command fails: use Flush/Purge → AUX Line → 246 after completing the pipe-routing section. The regulator command is rejected: enter Stop → Regulator → 781, not a valve number. Valve F remains inaccessible: use 592 to unlock its door, then manually operate the valve beyond it. The final terminal does not release the clamps: use D71 for the connection and E3E3 for the release stage; do not substitute A5D7.

Best Silent Hill play order for a first-time player

For the strongest entry point into Silent Hill, play the original four games in release order. They establish the series’ central locations, cult mythology, psychological-horror language, and its most important direct story continuation: Silent Hill 3 follows the first game.

Core Silent Hill arc (release order): Silent Hill (1999) → Silent Hill 2 (2001) → Silent Hill 3 (2003) → Silent Hill 4: The Room (2004).

Complete practical order: Silent Hill → Silent Hill 2 → Silent Hill 3 → Silent Hill 4: The Room → Origins → Homecoming → Shattered Memories → Downpour → Silent Hill 2 remake → Silent Hill f → Silent Hill: Townfall.

If you want the tightest classic narrative chain, use: Origins → Silent Hill → Silent Hill 3. For first-timers, starting with the 1999 Silent Hill before Origins gives the prequel more impact.

Where Silent Hill: Townfall fits

Silent Hill: Townfall is a standalone entry. You can play it without finishing Harry Mason’s, James Sunderland’s, Heather Mason’s, or Henry Townshend’s stories first, but the original four games make its use of Silent Hill’s tone, technology, confinement, and dread easier to appreciate.

Townfall’s CRTV is especially useful during its stealth-heavy sections. In Silent Hill: Townfall, the CRTV is a handheld FM/AM radio TV device called “CRTV” that you can tune for story beats and to reveal enemy locations. It provides a stealth-oriented signal view of nearby enemies when tuned to different frequencies/bands, which helps you avoid fights that do not block your route.

Richard route codes worth keeping

In the Richard section, several unrelated locks can interrupt progress while you are moving between objectives. These codes are separate from the SWDP Control Room sequence:

  • P.R. Records door: 1607
  • Operations Department storage: 1036
  • The Gallery Meeting Space storeroom: 4512
  • Gym locker: 147 (contains a first aid kit)

Use the CRTV before backtracking through these rooms. The device’s enemy-location signal is most valuable when a code opens an optional storage route rather than a mandatory corridor, because you can judge whether the detour is worth the resources it may cost.

Practical route to follow

For the franchise, begin with the 1999 Silent Hill and keep the original four games in release order. For the Townfall blocker, power both Control Room switches, then run Open Valve 245 → Start Filter 130 → solve Auxiliary Lines → Flush AUX Line 246 → Stop Regulator 781 → unlock Valve F with 592 → manually open Valve F → enter D71 and E3E3. This clears the SWDP system without mixing camera IDs, document codes, and clamp-module inputs.
