A regular crash puts you behind the field, and exhausting your crash allowance wrecks the speeder and costs the Tour’s league token. On contact-heavy circuits, add Resilience before maximizing boost: it reduces malfunctions and helps resist hazards, protecting the time you gain elsewhere on the lap.
Table of Contents (7)
Choose your speeder by the track’s hardest sections
Choose around the corners, exits and hazards that repeatedly cost you speed. A long straight favors acceleration upgrades, but those gains disappear if the preceding corner leaves you scraping a wall.
| Speeder | Handling identity | Track profile to favor |
|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Stable drifting and durable, all-around handling; its broad body needs room. | Contact-heavy layouts, frequent hazards and unfamiliar routes. |
| Speeder Bike | Strong acceleration and rapid drift exits, with less forgiveness when a line goes wrong. | Stop-start circuits, hard-braking corners and clear acceleration zones. |
| Skim Speeder | A wide chassis that uses Knife Edge banking to carry momentum through precise lines. | Flowing bends, linked corners and technical passages with predictable entries. |
The Landspeeder is your campaign starting vehicle. The Speeder Bike unlock costs 10 Tuning Points, and the Skim Speeder costs 20. Standard races award one point for any finish; Eliminators award four for a top-three finish.
Landspeeder: build Cornering and Drift before exit speed
Prioritize Cornering and Drift to tighten the Landspeeder’s broad turning arc and preserve momentum through corners. On wall-lined or traffic-heavy routes, make Resilience the next investment. Afterburner becomes more useful once you can finish the slide facing the exit without another steering correction.
Initiate the drift early enough to set the exit angle. Boosting while the chassis is still sliding toward the outside wall spends acceleration on a compromised line. Its durability gives you room for imperfect entries, but repeated contact still slows the run.
Keep Ramjet investment for layouts with a clear straight after the drift. Defer Battery upgrades when the circuit offers only one meaningful boost window; handling and hazard resistance address more of the lap.
Speeder Bike: upgrade Afterburner and Kinetic Burst for clean exits
On acceleration-heavy tracks, Afterburner and Kinetic Burst are the bike’s key early upgrades. Kinetic Burst supplies a surge around drift exits, letting you exploit the bike’s acceleration as the vehicle straightens. Apply it with the exit clear rather than while still fighting the corner.

If the bike repeatedly overshoots braking zones or misses apexes, move Cornering ahead of further boost investment. Extra speed compounds that problem. On hazardous routes, add Resilience before pushing the aggressive setup further — the bike’s fragility makes each collision costly.
Save Ramjet for the straight after a clean exit, never the approach to a hard-braking corner. Battery moves up the priority list only when the layout supplies several separated boost windows where repeated activations have a purpose.
Skim Speeder: prioritize Knife Edge for linked corners
Knife Edge, Cornering and Drift are the handling priorities for a Skim Speeder on flowing circuits. Knife Edge banks the chassis sideways through corners and tighter gaps; Cornering helps make those lines consistent, while Drift supports momentum through longer sequences of bends.
Set a stable entry before banking, then release early enough to prepare for the next bend. A late Knife Edge input leaves less room to recover from an over-fast entry. Add Afterburner where a technical section ends in a genuine acceleration zone.
Choose Battery investment for repeated boost opportunities, or Ramjet investment for long, clear launch sections. Move Resilience earlier when traffic or hazards interrupt the precise line the chassis needs.
Use Afterburner and Ramjet differently
- Afterburner recharges continuously and can be feathered. Use it for short exit accelerations, overtakes and gaps where you may need to lift again soon.
- Ramjet must fully recharge after use and cannot be feathered. Commit when the speeder is straight and the route stays open long enough to exploit the activation.
- Watch the Ramjet warning zone. Pushing beyond it risks overheating; holding too long can explode the engine. Ending a straight safely preserves more time than carrying boost into the next braking zone.
Let planetary hazards change the setup
On Sentinel I, acid puddles cause a System Malfunction and choke the Ramjet; prolonged contact explodes the speeder. Move Resilience up the build order, but still choose a line around the puddles. A boost-heavy setup loses its value when the hazard disables the boost you built around.

On Ando Prime, cold gradually seizes the speeder, while heat tunnels counteract it. Cold also slows engine overheating. Account for tunnel placement when planning your route and Ramjet use, rather than treating the whole lap as one continuous boost opportunity.
Spend Tuning Points without weakening your next Tour
Tuning Points pay for both vehicle unlocks and permanent upgrades, which reach Level 15. Build one dependable chassis before spreading points across all three. Unlock the bike when acceleration-heavy layouts are the problem; save for the Skim Speeder when linked corners are where you lose momentum.
A permanent-upgrade respec costs two Tuning Points at Tour start. Use it when the upcoming route calls for a different emphasis, such as replacing excess straight-line investment with Cornering and Resilience. The branching Tour map lets you inspect upcoming planets and choose a route that suits the chassis you have developed.
Racer styles can also address a specific weakness. Tenacious, unlocked after four Tour events, starts with Autopilot and allows one extra crash per race. Stuntrunner refills Afterburner on jump landings, making it useful on jump-heavy routes; at maximum rank, its perk makes every landing a perfect landing.
For the opening acceleration, complete the pre-countdown button prompts to receive a full Afterburner and buffed first ability activations. More equipped abilities add more prompt patterns; an Autopilot prompt automatically completes the others. During the countdown, keep acceleration inside the second pip for a rolling start.
